    Abstract: A high-speed searching apparatus for a CDP includes an encoder mounted to a rotary shaft of a slide motor for controlling a searching operation of an optical pickup by using a moving distance which is measured by the encoder. The encoder includes a circular rotary plate having slits and a photo sensor having a light emitter and a light receiver. By using the encoder, the high-speed searching can be quickly executed without any influence from RF signal.
