  • Publication number: 20210392129
Abstract: The embodiments set forth a technique for enabling a computing device to securely configure a peripheral computing device. According to some embodiments, the method can include the steps of (1) approving a request received from the peripheral computing device to engage in a setup procedure for the peripheral computing device, (2) receiving, from the peripheral computing device: (i) an audio signal that encodes a password and timing information, and (ii) a light signal. Additionally, the method can involve, in response to identifying that the timing information correlates with the light signal: (3) extracting the password from the audio signal, and (4) establishing a communication link with the peripheral computing device based on the password. In turn, the method can involve (5) providing configuration information to the peripheral computing device over the communication link.

  • Patent number: 10038967
Abstract: Accurate modeling of acoustic reverberation can be essential to generating and providing a realistic virtual reality or augmented reality experience for a participant. In an example, a reverberation signal for playback using headphones can be provided. The reverberation signal can correspond to a virtual sound source signal originating at a specified location in a local listener environment. Providing the reverberation signal can include, among other things, using information about a reference impulse response from a reference environment and using characteristic information about reverberation decay in a local environment of the participant. Providing the reverberation signal can further include using information about a relationship between a volume of the reference environment and a volume of the local environment of the participant.

  • Patent number: 8520872
Abstract: An apparatus to perform sound processing in a virtual reality system includes a sound processing unit to process and produce sound output in sound areas divided into a focus area within a predetermined visual field and a non-focus area out of the predetermined visual field in a virtual reality space for sound sources; and a control unit to divide the sound areas into the focus area and the non-focus area, and to control the sound output of the sound processing unit such that a volume of sound in a first space is gradually decreased while a volume of sound in a second space is gradually increased when a space shift from the first space to the second space in the virtual reality space is detected.
