    Abstract: Various systems and methods for implementing an anti-collision mechanism are described herein. A system for a lead vehicle to provide a visible light communication (VLC) message to a trailing vehicle behind the lead vehicle includes a vehicle controller subsystem of the lead vehicle, to: receive from a sensor array interface, sensor data from a forward-facing sensor incorporated into the lead vehicle; determine, using a processor, from the sensor data that a hazard exists; initiate the application of brakes with a braking force; and initiate, via a light controller, a VLC message to the trailing vehicle, the VLC message including the braking force.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve systems, methods, computer program products, and the like, for providing a proxy server or scrubbing service for an authoritative domain name server (DNS) of a CDN to prevent or otherwise mitigate attacks on the server. The proxy server may receive incoming requests to the authoritative DNS and determine which requests are valid and which are potentially part of an attack on the network. In one embodiment, the proxy server may then “scrub” or otherwise remove the requests of the attack to mitigate the effect of the attack on the network. For example, the proxy server may ignore the request, may direct the request to a “dead-end” server or other device to prevent overloading of the target device, may instruct a device from which the request was sent to discard the request, etc.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a passive illumination apparatus for improving the visibility of an optical fiber by projecting reflected light to passively illuminate an optical fiber for allowing the user improved visibility for inserting the optical fiber into an orifice. One embodiment of the concept uses a passive illumination apparatus having a pattern of one or more colors for reflectively transmitting chromatic light along with an optional contrast surface such as a gray or black stripe for providing a highly contrasting background for the user to view the optical fiber against. The ambient light is transmitted or directed from a reflective surface such as a concave curved region for passively illuminating the optical fiber. The passive illumination apparatus may be used on any suitable device such as a connector installation tool, a splicer, a stripper for an optical fiber coating or a cleaver as desired.

    Abstract: A piezoelectric drive, and the rotor and/or pushers thereof, have long life, e.g. at least about 6000 hours of actual operation. The piezoelectric drive also is highly accurate, and is relatively inexpensive to make. The rotor friction surface and/or pushers are made from a material having a low mechanical quality factor, yet with high strength and stability under the conditions encountered in the ultrasonic fields typical of piezoelectric drives. The material is preferably a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer (e.g. polyarylamide) with filler (e.g. glass particles or fiberglass), e.g. about 30-60% polymer and about 40-70% filler, and can easily make injection molded components or parts or components. A pair of drives may be connected together to form an instrument, for example rotating a shaft connected to a pointer of analog instrument either clockwise or counterclockwise.
