  • Publication number: 20070249000
Abstract: Described is a method for diagnosing a person having or being at risk of developing certain B-cell pathologies, including Sjögren's Syndrome and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and excluding patients with symptoms similar to Sjögren's Syndrome but with a different etiology, comprising the following steps: providing a sample of a body fluid or tissue from said person, said sample containing a mixture of unknown proteins, protein fragments or peptides; analyzing said samples with mass spectrometry to generate a m/z (mass to charge ratio) spectrogram for each sample; comparing whether the patient's sample contains m/z values that are characteristic of a Sjögren's Syndrome reference database derived from the analysis and cataloguing of multiple patient spectrograms; and determining whether said patient either has or does not have Sjögren's Syndrome on the basis of this comparative analysis.

  • Publication number: 20070181573
Abstract: A container comprising a first tubular body defining a fastening structure and a seam that extends across an end wall, and at least one depressed channel formed in the end wall. The seam is located in the depressed channel so as to separate the seam from the contents of the container. In an embodiment, there is a second tubular body secured to the first tubular body by a fastening structure that cooperates with the fastening structure of the first tubular body. The second tubular body also has a seam that extends across a wall that is located in a depressed channel so as to separate the seam from the contents of the container.

  • Publication number: 20050160080
Abstract: A user can search a database within a “context” that can be invoked with a context term, or name. The context is pre-defined by a human expert, or curator. The context definition is used in conjunction with a search term provided by the user to efficiently obtain search results that can otherwise be difficult to attain, such as detecting characteristics of data over multiple documents or other database items to infer trends, phenomena, characteristics, or other properties of the data. A context can be a category of items where each item has a distinct name. Search results are presented using the context based on the number of co-occurrences of the search term and terms relating to the context. In a preferred embodiment, the search results are presented as a list with documents having higher co-occurrences ordered at the top of the list. Context definition sets can be created and updated as an ongoing service to a subscriber. Several processing configurations are presented.

  • Patent number: 4596037
Abstract: Apparatus for determining the location of a physical feature, such as a hole in a panel, relative to two coordinate axes by optically scanning across the panel and hole from a reference while measuring the distance of the hole from the reference and the length of the hole chord for each of a plurality of scans, then adding half the chord length to the respective distance to the hole edge and averaging the results for the plurality of scans. Scan lines used for the hole edge and chord measurement can be selected from among a plurality of scan lines having a predetermined chord length. The measuring apparatus can also be readily adjusted to accommodate a range of feature dimensions.
