  • Publication number: 20080242511
Abstract: User interface methods and apparatus for controlling exercise apparatus are disclosed. An example user interface includes an exercise parameter input and an indicator associated with the exercise parameter input, and a control unit to activate the indicator in response to a training routine to prompt a user of the exercise apparatus to adjust an operation of the exercise apparatus via the exercise parameter input.

  • Publication number: 20070208791
Abstract: A system for the compression and decompression of sections of audio files is provided. A library of basic waveforms is produced by applying selected digital initialization codes to a chaotic system. Each basic waveform is in one-to-one correspondence with an initialization code. A weighted sum of the selected basic waveforms is used to approximate a section of audio file. The basic waveforms are then discarded and only the weighting factors and the corresponding initialization codes are stored in a compressed audio file. When the compressed audio file is decompressed for playback, the stored initialization codes are stripped out and applied to a similar chaotic system to regenerate the basic waveforms, which are recombined according to the stored weighting factors to reproduce the original section of audio file.

  • Publication number: 20070177730
Abstract: A method and apparatus that uses the dynamics of chaotic systems for the remote generation of a digital key, for use in any encryption algorithm. After initialization, the dynamics of a chaotic system are allowed to generate the 0 and 1 bits of a key bitstream. An initialization bitstream is transmitted, using conventional transmission technologies, to an identical chaotic system. This chaotic system is driven into synchrony and allowed to generate a key bitstream, which is identical to the other bitstream because the chaotic systems have been synchronized.

  • Publication number: 20070053517
Abstract: A system for the compression and decompression of image files is provided. A library of basic waveforms is produced by applying selected digital initialization codes to a chaotic system. Each basic waveform is in one-to-one correspondence with an initialization code. A weighted sum of selected basic waveforms is used to approximate each slice of an image. The basic waveforms are then discarded and only the weighting factors and the corresponding initialization codes are stored in a compressed image file. When the compressed image file is decompressed for playback, the stored initialization codes are stripped out and applied to a similar chaotic system to regenerate the basic waveforms, which are recombined according to the stored weighting factors to produce an approximation of the original image slice.

  • Publication number: 20060269057
Abstract: Systems and methods for processing, compressing, and distributing data, such as an audio file, are provided. Single- and multi-channel data streams are transformed into a single signal in a Unified Domain. A high resolution frequency analysis based on phase evolution provides accurate frequency estimates and distinguishes between oscillatory and noise-like signal components. The unified signal components are then prioritized using a Psychoacoustic Model. The prioritized components can be arranged in layers based on the component priorities and compressed (e.g., with a chaotic compression scheme). The least psychoacoustically important layers can be removed to lower the transmission bitrate. Digital rights management tools based, for example, on a unique device identification can be used for secure distribution.

  • Publication number: 20060091169
Abstract: A portable office device is adapted for use with a seat in a vehicle to form a desk and preferably has a main body with a plurality of storage compartments, an angled bottom, and a two-piece, hinged work surface member affixed to the main body that is selectively positionable between an open and closed position. When open the work surface member includes an expanded, co-planar work surface suitable for writing or a laptop computer. The portable office device also includes a receptacle adapted to removably receive either a spacer or a filler member/plug, where the spacer and plug enable the portable office device to be selectively positioned within the vehicle providing a greater range of convenient and comfortable use for users of the device. The ability to selectively position the office device in the vehicle passenger compartment, along with a two piece work surface member and an angled bottom, creates a convenient apparatus for both working on and storing work related items in a vehicle.
