Publication number: 20120246590Abstract: A configuration tool for a programmable HVAC controller is provided. The configuration tool may accept user input, and may generate a corresponding configuration profile based on the user input. The configuration profile may be downloaded to a programmable HVAC controller, which may, among other things, reconfigure the I/O terminals of the programmable HVAC controller. The configuration tool may generate a terminal diagram that labels at least some of the I/O terminals of the programmable HVAC controller based on the particular configuration profile. In some cases, the configuration tool may output the terminal diagram in a format that can be printed on a label, with the label being suitable for adhering to the programmable HVAC controller.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2011Publication date: September 27, 2012Applicant: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Aaron Francis D'Souza, Stalin G, Ralph Collins Brindle, Levi Geadelmann, Kevin B. Publication number: 20110160877Abstract: An approach for switching between point types without affecting control logic. The control logic may have a function block, input and output points connected with links to the function block. A point may be changed from one type to another type of point without affecting its link. A type of point may be modulating, binary, software, constant, or other.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Stalin Gutha, Lavanya Bhadriraju, Ankur Jhawar, Kevin B. Publication number: 20110161850Abstract: A graphical approach to setup data sharing between two controllers. Symbols that represent controllers may be placed on a wiresheet. A link may be constructed between the controllers by connecting the symbols with a line drawn between them. The resulting link information may lead to a compile and download of binding tables to the pertinent controller. The designer or user need not setup several levels of mapping by populating multiple tables to effect the binding for a link between the controllers. This binding may be done automatically under a hood without the designer or user needing to be aware of the binding activity. This approach for graphically constructing a link may be particularly applicable to BACnet controllers.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Stalin Gutha, Janaki Krishnaswamy, Lavanya Bhadriraju, Ankur Jhawar, Kevin B. Moore, Subramanya Nagaraj

Publication number: 20110160879Abstract: An approach to automatically encode application enumeration values to enable reuse of applications across controller of different protocols. Protocols may use different sets of enumerations to denote various application values and states. The present approach may permit defining a common set of enumerations which can be encoded automatically by a tool that enables reuse. Application designers may define enumerations to be used by the control application and the tool will automatically encode them into communication protocol specific enumeration values.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Stalin Gutha, Paul Wacker, Kevin B. Moore

Publication number: 20110160880Abstract: A priority selection mechanism for driving outputs from control logic which can be automatically translated to controllers of various protocols. The priority selection mechanism may assign a priority to the outputs and select the output having the highest priority as the output of the control logic. There may be an abstract representation of the priority logic which may permit a protocol mechanism to be used in the logic without the designer or user needing to know the details of the mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Stalin Gutha, Janaki Krishnaswamy, Lavanya Bhadriraju, Ankur Jhawar, Kevin B. Moore, Subramanya Nagaraj

Publication number: 20110160878Abstract: A mechanism for constructing generic control logic with versions of the logic automatically generated and stored for one or more protocols. The complexity of the one or more protocols may be hidden under a hood of the mechanism from the view of engineers, programmers and users so as to improve their productivity relative to control logic designs and applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Stalin Gutha, Janaki Krishnaswamy, Lavanya Bhadriraju, Ankur Jhawar, Kevin B. Publication number: 20110161992Abstract: A protocol independent programming tool for constructing control logic. The control logic may be constructed without dealing in the details of an underlying protocol. The protocol details may be abstracted and exposed and generic points used in constructing the logic. The tool may automatically map or translate the points used in the logic to protocol specific entities.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2009Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: HONEYWELL INTERNATIONAL INC.Inventors: Stalin Gutha, Janaki Krishnaswamy, Lavanya Bhadriraju, Ankur Jhawar, Kevin B. Publication number: 20110131458Abstract: In an embodiment, the effect of signal phase difference on a memory system is tested for various operating states. The various operating states may be represented as respective sample points on a plane defined by a range of values for a difference in signal phases and a range of values for another operating state parameter. In various embodiments, sample points for a round of crosstalk testing may include two sample points which are offset from the same reference point on the plane along different respective axes, where the axes are oblique to one another.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2009Publication date: June 2, 2011Inventors: Christopher P. Publication number: 20110119279Abstract: A system having a pre-analysis filter for monitoring incoming data and selecting out data that contributes to event-based trending. Trending from the selected data may be created, started and stopped on the fly. The selected data may generate a temporary log configuration file to allow the log engine to capture the significant data to be logged into storage. The data in storage may be subject to extensive trend analysis. A result of this system is that the amount of data stored is small compared to the amount of all incoming data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2009Publication date: May 19, 2011Applicant: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Paul C. Wacker, Kevin B. Moore

Patent number: 6297691Abstract: A receiver receives modulated message signals in non-coherent FSK and coherent 8PSK protocols. A selectively configurable processor demodulates the message signals, and includes a demodulator that derives in-phase and quadrature signals based on the message signals. A phase detector is responsive to the in-phase and quadrature signals and delayed in-phase and quadrature signals to derive a phase signal. A selector is responsive to the in-phase and quadrature signals to selectively connect a loop filter between the phase detector and the demodulator. When the selector connects the filter between the phase detector and demodulator, the demodulator is responsive to filtered phase signals to lock onto a frequency of the message signals so that the processor operates as a phase locked loop to demodulate coherent modulated signals.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2000Date of Patent: October 2, 2001Assignee: Rosemount Inc.Inventors: Stephen D. Anderson, Daniel V. Hulse, Kevin B. Moore, Paul D. Kammann, Gabriel A. Maalouf

Patent number: 6118490Abstract: A communication system for transmitting information by digital binary signaling over an optical channel as a series of light pulses each beginning with a minimum duration and thereafter being variable to represent different binary states. Transmission is between an optical transmitter based on a portion of a display screen in a display device and a photodetector in a signal processing system. Information is recovered by finding averaged sample values, and is evaluated by comparing it against an accumulated averaged sample based threshold derived from the optical signal at a selected intensity. The information received can be used to verify user inputs to the signal processing system.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1997Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Interactive Learning Group, Inc.Inventors: Kevin B.
