    Abstract: A medical circuit incorporates a medical tube and a connector. The medical circuit transports gases to and/or from a patient via a patient interface. The connector has a plurality of rigid components at least partially surrounded by an overmold. The medical tube has a first elongate member and a second elongate member. The first elongate member is substantially hollow. A vent can be coupled to the first elongate members such that it maintains gaseous communication with the lumen. The vent may provide a pathway between the lumen and the atmosphere, such that gases may move into and/or out of the lumen during cleaning. The vent may also provide a barrier to liquid and/or substance ingress into the first elongate member during cleaning of the medical circuit. The medical circuit can be reusable.

    Abstract: A connector for a respiratory support system having a first part, a second part, and a retention element. The first part is configured to engage a portion of a respiratory conduit and the second part is configured to engage with another component. The first and second parts together define an internal lumen for the passage of gas through the connector. The retention element defines an outer wall and the first part of the connector comprises a wall spaced inwards from the outer wall, defining a cavity therebetween to receive said portion of the respiratory conduit. The wall of the first part has one or more outwardly-projecting protrusions configured to engage said portion of the respiratory conduit. At least one distance between a surface of the protrusion(s) and an inner surface of the outer wall is less than a maximum wall thickness of the portion of the respiratory conduit.

    Abstract: Connectors for respiratory assistance systems are disclosed that are configured to at least decrease the proportion of condensate that drains into an inspiratory conduit. The connectors include a setup that causes the portion of a wye-piece connected to an expiratory conduit to be positioned below the portion of the wye-piece connected to the inspiratory conduit. The connector can alternatively, or additionally, include a wye-piece that includes a ball attached to the wye-piece adjacent the inspiratory conduit port such that when the ball is connected to a medical stand, the expiratory conduit port is positioned below the inspiratory conduit port. The connector can alternatively or additionally include a circuit hanger that includes a cradles for both conduits and a ball attached to the circuit hanger adjacent the inspiratory conduit cradle such that when the ball is connected to a medical stand, the expiratory conduit cradle is positioned below the inspiratory conduit cradle.
