    Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods for providing consumers with intelligent management of their personal or digital video recorders (DVRs) to efficiently utilize the data storage medium therein for recording television programs. This is made possible by the creation of a permanent log of previous-recorded content on the DVR based on common, unique content identification or associated metadata, which then allows the consumers to better manage DVR recording of selected content.
