The voter may cast the ballot causing it to be collected and the vote thereon recorded, or may have the ballot returned. Checking may include, e.g., checking for a complete ballot, undervotes and/or overvotes.

Abstract: A system and method are useful for tracking and/or managing an article at one or more stations. An RFID tag including a memory and an antenna is associated with each article, and an RFID tag reader at the station has plural antennas for communicating with RFID tags and reading information therefrom. The read information is communicated to a processor and stored in a database. The information stored in the database may be utilized for tracking and/or managing the article, whereby the article being tracked and/or managed may be located and its history obtained, for use in various environments.

Abstract: A voting system and method that provides a printed confirmation of voting selections made comprises a voter interface for receiving voting selections made during a voting session; a processor for creating a voting record including the voting selections made during the voting session; a memory for storing the voting record; a printer for storing the voting record on a human readable and/or optically readable printed paper, and providing the printed paper for verifying the voting selections printed thereon. A voting session identifier may be utilized to provide transparency of each and every vote and may maintain the anonymity of the vote and voter.

Abstract: An RFID monitoring arrangement comprises a first RFID device and a second RFID device for monitoring the first RFID device. The first RFID device transmits at least two messages each including unique identifying information and a power level code, wherein the transmitter power level corresponds to the power level represented by the power level code in each transmitted message. The second RFID device receives messages transmitted by the first RFID device and processes the identifying information and the power level code to provide an indication of a condition. Messages received from said first RFID device, the indication of a condition, or both the messages received from said first RFID device and the indication of a condition, may be relayed to a remote location.

Abstract: A re-usable carrier structure comprises a carrier frame and a removable stretchable carrier base supported thereby. A tacky adhesive layer is disposed on the carrier base, and semiconductor chips or other article(s) carried adhere to the adhesive layer. When it is desired to remove the article(s), an ejector displaces and stretches the carrier base. After the article(s) have been removed, the carrier base may be removed from the carrier frame which can be re-used to hold and transport article(s) after receiving a new carrier base.

Abstract: A method and system for establishing a communication link between a host computer provided with multiple communication tools and a communication network is characterized in that the at least two communication tools are provided with the host computer and the default communication tool (which is a built-in LAN device) thereof is designated as the communication tool to establish a communication link between the host computer and a corresponding remote server (LAN server) which can provide a network access to the communication network. The LAN server will be polled by a network diagnostic apparatus such as a ping utility to determine whether the LAN server is accessible. If the LAN server is accessible, a communication link can be established between the host computer which serves as a client and the communication network over the link of the client and the LAN server.
