  • Publication number: 20050216957
Abstract: Method and apparatus for protecting a remediated computer network during reconnection of a previously disconnected computer system. Upon initiation of reconnection to the computer network, the previously disconnected computer system raises a firewall to temporarily limit exchanges between the computer system and the remediated computer network until after a client remediation server residing on the computer network has resolved vulnerabilities of the computer system. The limitations on exchanges between the computer system and the remediated computer network are then removed by lowering the firewall.

  • Publication number: 20050169828
Abstract: The invention provides new methods for synthesis of B9H9?, B10H102?, B11H14?, and B12H122? salts, particularly alkylammonium salts of B9H9?, B10H102?, B11H14?, and B12H122?. More particularly, the invention provides methods of preparing tetraalkylamronium salts of B9H9?, B10H102?, B11H14?, and B12H122? by pyrolysis of tetraalkylammonium borohydrides under controlled conditions. The invention additionally provides methods of preparing, in an atom efficient process, octadecaborane from the tetraalkylammonium salts of the invention. Preferred methods of the invention are suitable for preparation of isotopically enriched boranes, particularly isotopically enriched 10B18H22 and 11B18H22.

  • Publication number: 20050169827
Abstract: The invention provides new methods for the synthesis of isotopically enriched metal borohydrides, metal tetrahydroundecaborate salts, and decaborane from isotopically enriched 10B-boric acid or 11B-boric acid. The invention is particularly useful for synthesis of isotopically enriched sodium or lithium borohydride, MB11H14 (where M is Li, Na, K, or alkylammonium), and decaborane.

  • Publication number: 20050163693
Abstract: The invention provides new methods for synthesis of large boron hydride clusters e.g., boron hydride molecules of the formula BnHm where 5?n?96 and m?n+8, wherein m and n satisfy the electron counting rules of macropolyhedral boranes. The invention is particularly useful for synthesis of octadecaborane (B18H22). Preferred methods of the invention include iteratively generating a conjugate acid from a salt of the [BaHb]c? or [Bn+2Hm?4]2? anion followed by degradation under conditions conducive to concentrating and drying of the conjugate acid to provide a borane BnHm and residual salt of the [BaHb]c? or [Bn+2Hm?4]2? anion which is reused in the method of synthesis. The invention further provides isotopically enriched boranes, particularly isotopically enriched 10B18H22 and 11B18H22.

  • Publication number: 20050137841
Abstract: A method, apparatus, system, and signal-bearing medium that in an embodiment generate keys based on a number of commands that can be outstanding at a device under test at any one time, embed the keys into respective data associated with respective commands, and send the commands to a device under test. When output is received from the device under test, the key embedded in the output may be used to determine the command associated with the output. In this way, the data may remain random while the test case command associated with the output may be determined based on the data.

  • Patent number: 6804490
Abstract: A selective message broadcasting system. The system can include fixed storage configured to store pre-recorded audio messages. A digital audio system can be coupled to the fixed storage, and can include playback logic for playing back selected ones of the pre-recorded audio messages. A center frequency modulator can be coupled to the digital audio system and the modulator can be configured to modulate the selected ones of the pre-recorded audio messages about a center frequency in a particular broadcast spectrum. Finally, a frequency band comb distributor can be coupled to the center frequency modulator and configured to replicate the modulated selected ones of the pre-recorded audio messages across a set of frequency transmission channels in the particular broadcast spectrum while maintaining a silence interval between each of the frequency transmission channels in the particular broadcast spectrum. Notably, the broadcast spectrum can include the FM spectrum and the AM spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20040010264
Abstract: A cable passing apparatus useful in passing a cable around a bone. The cable is used to repair broken bone during an orthopaedic surgery. The cable passer comprises a cannulated internal assembly that is extendable at least partially around a bone. A cable suitable for surgical applications can be threaded through the apparatus and removed as desired.

  • Patent number: 6258097
Abstract: An orthopaedic instrument for comparing post-surgical joint geometry to pre-surgical joint geometry. The instrument has a head chuck which can be secured to the ball of a ball joint, and an arm having reference indicia thereon. Markings indicative of the pre-surgical joint geometry are made on the bone with reference to the center of the ball. After replacement with a prosthetic ball, the post-operative geometry is verified by securing the head chuck to the prosthetic ball, and comparing the location of the bone markings against the reference indicia on the arm. As needed, adjustments are made in the prosthetic components.
