  • Patent number: 11979665
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and program products for interleaving display ON/OFF periods and camera ON/OFF periods for camera-under-display (CUD) configurations are disclosed. One apparatus includes a display screen including a CUD area, the display screen configured for switching between display ON periods and display OFF periods, and a camera positioned behind the CUD area of the display screen, the camera configured for switching between exposure ON periods and exposure OFF periods. The apparatus further includes a processor and a memory that stores code executable by the processor. The code is executable by the processor to interleave the display ON/OFF periods and the exposure ON/OFF periods such that the CUD area appears to continuously display data and the camera is simultaneously able to capture images. Methods and computer program products that perform the operations and/or functions of the apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11971743
Abstract: A deformable electronic device includes a flexible display, one or more sensors, at least one imager, and one or more processors. The one or more sensors detect deformation of the deformable electronic device. The at least one imager, which is disposed beneath the flexible display, captures one or more images of an identifiable marker of the flexible display in response to the one or more sensors detecting the deformation of the deformable electronic device. The one or more processors estimate an amount of the deformation of the deformable electronic device as a function of how far the identifiable marker of the flexible display translates across the at least one imager during the deformation of the deformable electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20240045073
Abstract: Aspects presented herein may enhance the navigation function of navigation/map applications or systems when GNSS signals are weak or sporadic. In one aspect, a UE monitors a position of the UE based on GNSS communication, where the position of the UE is monitored using at least one first map layer of a plurality of map layers associated with a map. The UE detects that the position of the UE corresponds to a predefined location when the GNSS communication is below a communication threshold. The UE switches to monitoring the position of the UE using at least one second map layer of the plurality of map layers upon detecting that the position of the UE corresponds to the predefined location, where the at least one second map layer is associated with the predefined location.

  • Patent number: 11633668
Abstract: A communication device, method, and computer program product prompt correct face/eye positioning to enable perceived eye-to-eye contact of a user of a video capturing device with camera on a same device side as the viewable display device. A first communication device includes a first display device having a first graphical user interface (GUI). A first image capturing device of the first communication device has a field of view that captures a face of a first user viewing the first GUI. The first image capturing device generates a first image stream of the field of view. A controller of the communication device identifies a look target area of the first GUI proximate to the first image capturing device. The controller presents visual content on the first GUI within the look target area to prompt the first user viewing the first GUI to look towards the look target area.

  • Publication number: 20220239832
Abstract: An electronic device includes one or more sensors detecting a geometry of the electronic device. At least one imager, disposed to a first side of a deformable portion of the electronic device, captures at least one image while at least one other imager, disposed to a second side of the deformable portion of the electronic device, captures at least one other image. The at least one image and at least one other image can each be any of a single image, a sequence of images, or video. One or more processors combine the at least one image and the at least one other image to create a composite image as a function of the geometry of the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 10234741
Abstract: A display for an electronic device includes a plurality of pixel portions. Each pixel portion includes one or more electrophoretic capsules disposed above an organic light emitting diode layer. A first electrode assembly and a second electrode assembly are operable to control the one or more electrophoretic capsules. A control circuit selectively controls the first electrode assembly to cause operation of the one or more electrophoretic capsules in an optically non-transmissive state and the second electrode assembly to cause operation of the one or more electrophoretic capsules in an optically transmissive state.

  • Patent number: 10062183
Abstract: For adjusting color values in image data for an emissive display, a method receives a frame of image data and adjusts a color value of a first color component by predetermined amount and identifies a white point from the adjusted color value of the first color component for each pixel in the frame of image data. The method remaps, for each pixel in the frame of image data, color values for a second color component and for a third color component based on the white point and controls the emissive display to present the frame of image data using the adjusted color value and the remapped color values. Each pixel of the emissive display includes a first subpixel that emits the first color component, a second subpixel that emits the second color component, and a third subpixel that emits the third color component.

  • Patent number: 10037745
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product applying an application profile to a display configuration of a device, which overrides the default ambient light setting (ALS) data associated with a display. The method includes detecting initiation of an application. The method further includes searching at least one database for an application profile associated with the application. The application profile includes application-specific ALS data, which establishes an application-specific configuration of the display while the application is open on the display. In response to locating the application profile within the at least one database, the application profile is applied to the display, with the application-specific ALS data replacing/overriding the default ALS data.
