The connector assembly includes first and second connectors disposed along the board edge. Each of the first and second connectors has a center signal contact and a shield shell that extends around the center signal contact. The center signal contact of the first connector engages the first side of the circuit board and the center signal contact of the second connector engages the second side of the circuit board. The first and second connectors mate with the at least one of the mating connectors and the circuit board along parallel mating directions.

One of the mating portion and the mounting portion includes a bifurcated end having opposing contact tips and the other of the mating portion and the mounting portion includes an interconnection end that is received between the contact tips to electrically couple the mating portion and the mounting portion.

The mounting bracket is disposed proximate to the rear side of the panel. The mounting bracket receives a securing feature of the peripheral connector that extends through the securing hole in the panel to the mounting bracket when the peripheral connector and panel connector mate with one another. The mounting bracket receives the securing feature to secure the peripheral connector to the front, side of the panel.

The shield is shaped to fit in the interior chamber and extends between a shield mating end and a shield back end. The shield back end includes a ground contact opening. The shield includes a rim protruding from the shield back end that extends around a portion of an outer periphery of the shield back end. The rim includes a plurality of rim ends separated by a gap. The rim engages the transition portion to prevent the shield being removed through the housing mating end and the gap exposes a portion of the transition portion.
