  • Publication number: 20080287311
Abstract: A method is provided for selecting membrane-translocating peptides (MTPs) from a peptide display library that are capable of crossing or penetrating a lipid membrane. A plurality of nucleic acid constructs that encode displayed peptides are expressed, resulting in the formation of a plurality of nucleic acid-peptide complexes, each complex comprising at least one displayed peptide associated with the corresponding nucleic acid construct encoding the displayed peptide; the complexes are exposed to a population of membrane-encapsulated compartments, allowing a translocating reaction to occur; complexes that remain unassociated with the membrane are removed; optionally complexes that are associated with the membrane are removed; and internalised nucleic acid-peptide complexes are recovered. The membrane-encapsulated compartments may be artificial vesicles such as liposomes, or populations of one or more cell types.

  • Patent number: 7162958
Abstract: An inflator includes a distributed charge to be distributed within an inflatable component of an inflatable system and a housing. The housing includes a combustion chamber and a gas storage chamber. The combustion chamber includes an initiator and a gas propellant. The gas storage chamber includes an inert gas at a high pressure. The housing also includes a gas nozzle. The distributed charge is connected to the housing through the gas nozzle. The distributed charge may be mechanically joined to the housing by a ferrule. Upon receiving an electrical signal from a crash sensor or other activator, the initiator ignites the gas propellant in the combustion chamber. The hot gas and hot particles from the burning gas propellant and the initiator flow into the gas storage chamber and heat the compressed inert gas in the gas storage chamber. The heated, compressed gas in the gas storage chamber flows through the gas nozzle and ignites the distributed charge.

  • Publication number: 20060278119
Abstract: An inflatable system includes an inflatable component and an distributed charge inflator disposed in the inflatable component. The distributed charge inflator includes a first charge for generating inflating gas and a housing body connected to the first charge. The housing body includes an initiator and a second charge that has relatively long burn time. Upon receiving a signal from a sensor, the initiator ignites the first charge and the second charge simultaneously. The first charge inflates the inflatable component and the second charge sustains the inflation of the inflatable component.

The wheel may include a base wheel skeleton including a rim, a hub and spokes. Each spoke may include threaded holes adjacent the rim. Additional threaded holes may be disposed generally around a periphery of the hub. A hub cap may be attachable to the wheel on a first side of the wheel and include mounting extensions for attachment of the hub cap to the threaded holes around hub. Skin elements may be attachable to the wheel and include holes for attachment of one end of the skin element to one of the threaded holes adjacent the connection of the spokes to the rim.
