  • Patent number: 11516177
Abstract: In a cable network, embodiments detect and remediate a non-responsive customer premise equipment (CPE) device in a customer's premise with minimal or no interaction with a customer. Embodiments may detect and remediate a non-responsive CPE device without rebooting the non-responsive CPE device or the associated cable modem. Embodiments include troubleshooting a data link layer (e.g., Open System Interconnection (OSI) layer 2, or media access control (MAC) layer) and a network layer (e.g., OSI layer 3, or Internet layer) between a service operator network and the non-responsive CPE device. Embodiments include a guided integration and a proactive integration method, computer program product, and system to reduce and/or eliminate the need for a customer service representative to reboot a cable modem, and/or for a customer to reboot a non-responsive CPE device resulting in a fast and less disruptive service experience for the customer.

  • Patent number: 10154039
Abstract: Access control for shared computing resources in a hierarchical system is provided herein. An as-needed, “lazy evaluation” approach to access control is described in which an effective access control list for a computing resource is determined after a request is received from a user to access the resource. When resources are shared, access control policies are created and stored in association with the shared resource but are not stored in association with hierarchically related lower-level resources. When an access request for a resource is received, access control policies are collected for levels of a computing resource hierarchy that are higher than the hierarchy level of the resource. An effective access control list is determined based on permissions specified in the collected access control policies. The effective access control list represents an effective propagation of access control policies of higher hierarchy levels to the computing resource.

  • Patent number: 9880989
Abstract: Organizations maintain and generate large amounts of documentation and entities of these organizations often need to collaborate on generating and reviewing this information. There is a need to maintain and store this documentation remotely in such a way that the entities of these organizations may collaborate with each other. To ensure that entities of the organization can collaborate on documents, a document annotation service is described that converts a text-based document, such as a word processing document, to a fixed-layout document, such as a coordinate-based document. Annotations can be received on the fixed-layout document. The annotations can then be mapped to the text-based document and downloaded to a user for viewing.

  • Publication number: 20150342327
Abstract: A pack is disclosed having a pack support structure, and a stand structure connected to the pack support structure. A disclosed collapsible shelter is stored on the pack and includes a floor material that provides a ground cover under the collapsible shelter, and is stored on the pack for carrying. The collapsible shelter, when in the deployed position, is attached to the pack support structure so that the pack is part of the collapsible shelter and is supported by the pack support structure. A shroud is also disclosed attached to the pack support structure to act as a heat shield. Support equipment and supplies are stored in the pack, and are accessible from inside of the collapsible shelter. Disclosed configurations allows for rapid deployment, and increased protection from heat in an emergency situation such as when a firefighter requires emergency protection from a wildfire.
