  • Patent number: 9459855
Abstract: A system and method for information handling system manufacture analyzes an image to determine a traits definition that identifies the operating system, applications and unique information of the image, such as in a XML file. The image traits definition may be communicated to a manufacture site over a network and used to re-create the image for copying to a manufactured information handling system. Communication of the image traits definition consumes less network and storage resources than communication of the image, thus reducing the time and expense of image transfers to manufacture information handling systems.

Inventors: Kevin Hanes, Tim W. Cox, Marc Jarvis, Chandar Kamalanathan
  • Patent number: 9357011
Abstract: A system for manufacture of information handling systems is disclosed. The system includes an image analyzer operable to accept an image and generate an image traits definition wherein the image traits definition has a manifest of the image's software characteristics and customization settings, a remote image rebuilder distal to and interfaced with the image analyzer through a network wherein the remote image rebuilder operable to apply the image traits definition to an image components library to rebuild the image, and an information handling system burn rack proximate to the image rebuilder and operable to copy the rebuilt image to a manufactured information handling system.

  • Patent number: 8495126
Abstract: A system and method for automated deployment of an information handling system are disclosed. A method for managing the deployment of an information handling system may include executing a deployment application on an information handling system, the deployment application including one or more tasks associated with the deployment of the information handling system. The method may further include automatically determining for a particular task whether an execution time for the particular task is within a predetermined range of execution times. The method may further include automatically performing an error-handling task in response to determining that the execution time for the particular task is not within the predetermined range of execution times.

  • Patent number: 8458692
Abstract: Data migration from existing to replacement information handling systems is integrated with manufacture of the replacement information handling system by including a data migration application and rules in the image copied to the replacement information handling system during manufacture. The rules define the data migration, such as the types of files allowed and disallowed for data migration, the physical interface for the data migration, the initial power up and display interface to support the data migration application and the deletion of the data migration application after completion of the data migration operation. The replacement information handling system ships to the end user and initiates the data migration application on power-up to present instruction to perform the data migration.

  • Publication number: 20080228505
Abstract: A deployment optimization model that identifiers and categorizes issues (such as key cost and quality drivers) in information handling system deployment and provisioning. The deployment optimization model is used within a deployment and evaluation tool which provides based on this model, a set of processes and tools for evaluating information handling system deployment issues of customers. Based on information derived from the deployment and evaluation tool, it is possible to determine a customer's current cost to deploy information handling systems as well as a future cost if various recommendations are adopted.

  • Publication number: 20080228814
Abstract: An asset discovery tool and process in which information from a customer's hardware and software environment is collected and the resulting customer data is processed using statistical algorithms based upon supplier specific information. After the data is processed, the asset discovery tool use the results to build reports that help customers make decisions regarding their application portfolio which will optimize their information handing system deployment costs.

  • Publication number: 20080228506
Abstract: An optimized deployment solution which uses a front-end to automatically drive deployment of an information handling system. The optimized deployment solution queries multiple data locations and creates a manifest that is used to automate the deployment. The optimized deployment solution decreases an amount of interaction that is needed from a technician thus decreasing the potential for technician failures.
