  • Publication number: 20240130769
Abstract: A differential compression bone screw and a method are provided for compressing adjacent bone portions together to encourage bone fusion. The compression bone screw is comprised of a head portion and a shank. A center hole extends from the head portion to a distal end of the shank. A superior end of the head portion includes a shaped opening that receives a tool for driving the compression bone screw into a hole drilled in a patient's bone. An inferior end of the head portion includes barbs that engage with surrounding bone tissue. A smooth portion of the shank is disposed between proximal threads and distal threads that rotatably engage within the hole in the patient's bone. A thread pitch of the distal threads is greater than a thread pitch of the proximal threads, such that the compression bone screw comprises a differential pitch configured to compress the adjacent bone portions.

  • Patent number: 11937859
Abstract: A plantar bone plate and a method are provided for treating fractures of metatarsal bones. The plantar bone plate comprises a generally elongate member having an upper surface and a lower, bone contact surface. Two or more fixation apertures and a compression slot are disposed along a longitudinal dimension of the elongate member. The fixation apertures receive fasteners suitable for fastening the plantar bone plate to a metatarsal bone. The compression slot receives a fastener at an oblique angle for compressing adjacent portions of the metatarsal bone so as to encourage bone fusion. A curvature along the elongate member is configured to mate the plantar bone plate with the anatomy of the plantar aspect of the metatarsal bone. In one embodiment, the curvature is comprised of at least a first bend and a second bend, such that the plantar bone plate mates with the plantar anatomy of the 5th metatarsal.

  • Publication number: 20240078628
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for a high-performance and low-latency implementation of a wavelet-based image compression scheme. A processor may generate, in a single pass for each of a plurality of horizontal and vertical divisions of an image frame, a set of wavelet coefficients for the image frame based on a DWT. The processor may select a set of bits associated with the set of wavelet coefficients to remove based on an entropy coding process. The processor may serialize the set of wavelet coefficients, where the set of serialized wavelet coefficients do not include the set of bits. The processor may output, for a second device, a bitstream including the set of serialized wavelet coefficients.

  • Patent number: 10493991
Abstract: The systems and methods provided herein are directed to enabling a vehicle to enter into and/or exit from a transport mode using a backup fuse. The vehicle may enter into the transport mode from a normal mode when an ignition of the vehicle transitions from off to on if the backup fuse has been removed and the vehicle has been placed in park or neutral. The transport mode may, in part, reduce electrical loads and power as well as limit other components of the vehicle during shipping. The dealer, or other party, may remove the transport mode when the vehicle arrives and is ready to be sold. The vehicle may exit the transport mode when the backup fuse has been re-installed and the fuel cap or lid has been removed or opened, thus returning the vehicle to the normal mode.

  • Patent number: 9908533
Abstract: The systems and methods provided herein are directed to exiting a vehicle from transport mode using a sequence or operation performed by two or more users. In an illustrative embodiment, the vehicle may include a first system and a second system. The first system may be activated by a sequence of pedal presses to either the brake or acceleration pedal. The second system may be activated by a trunk open request or battery connection. A control system within the vehicle may exit the transport mode when the first system and second system have been activated within a predetermined time. The predetermined time may be based on a distance between the first system and the second system such that a single user may not activate both systems. The predetermined time may be less than a time to travel a distance between the first system and the second system.

  • Publication number: 20080095178
Abstract: A system and method that allows nodes of a distributed node network to publish messages to other nodes or objects, where the messages may have different protocols. The protocols are pre-established in advance of transmission, so that any given message can be sent as necessary to a subscribing node, where the subscribing node is equipped to receive the message, even though the message may have a particular associated protocol. Prior to passing messages, the nodes swap publishing tables. This allows each node to know in advance what messages can be expected and what protocol a message will have.
