  • Publication number: 20210085672
Abstract: Described herein are solid, pharmaceutical compositions, dosage forms and methods of making and using the same, wherein the solid compositions comprise at least one high viscosity agent. The solid, high viscosity agent-comprising pharmaceutical compositions, when comprised of an opioid drug, can reduce the potential for abuse of such drug. The solid dosage forms are characterized by having a significantly reduced extractability of an opioid drug comprised therein upon contact of the dosage form with a solvent such as a typical household solvent. The solid dosage forms, following contact with a household solvent, such as an aqueous or alcoholic solvent, generate a high viscosity solution, thereby discouraging abuse of the resulting formulation via intravenous (IV) injection.

  • Publication number: 20020034532
Abstract: An injectable depot gel composition containing a polymer, a solvent that can dissolve the polymer and thereby form a viscous gel, a beneficial agent; and an emulsifying agent in the form of a dispersed droplet phase in the viscous gel. The injectable depot gel composition can be prepared by mixing the polymer and the solvent so that the solvent dissolves the polymer and forms a viscous gel. The beneficial agent is dissolved or dispersed in the viscous gel and the emulsifying agent is mixed with the beneficial agent containing viscous gel. The emulsifying agent forms a dispersed droplet phase in the viscous gel to provide the injectable depot gel composition. The injectable depot gel composition can deliver a beneficial agent to a human or animal with a desired release profile.

  • Patent number: 5470499
Abstract: The invention is a hard surface abrasive scouring cleanser having no significant syneresis, undue viscosity or yield stress increase, stably suspends abrasives, and has excellent rinsing characteristics. Furthermore, the present invention provides a stably suspended abrasive scouring cleanser which uses relatively small amounts of surfactants, thus lowering the total cost of producing these cleansers. The lesser amount of surfactant also affords the cleanser a milder feel and lower unaesthetic surfactant odor, while also requiring lower levels of fragrance. The absence of solvents results in a less irritating product as well.In one aspect the invention comprises, in aqueous solution:(a) a cross-linked polyacrylate;(b) at least one nonionic surfactant;(c) a pH adjusting agent; and(d) a calcium carbonate abrasive.
