  • Patent number: 12285298
Abstract: A machine accesses a first image captured prior to initiation of a procedure, where the first image depicts a set of instruments, as well as a second image captured after initiation of the procedure, where the second image depicts a proper subset of the set of instruments depicted in the first image. From the first and second images, the machine may determine that an instrument among the set of instruments depicted in the first image is not depicted among the proper subset of the set of instruments in the second image, and then cause presentation of a notification that indicates the instrument not depicted in the second image is missing. Alternatively, or additionally, the machine may determine whether an instrument among the set of instruments was used in the procedure, and then cause presentation of a notification that indicates whether the instrument was used in the procedure.

  • Publication number: 20250127440
Abstract: Systems and methods for assessing a flow of fluids suctioned from a patient. The flow of fluids may be divided according to a flow division ratio. An image of a first portion of the fluids may be evaluated to determine an estimated blood component quantity as a representative fraction of the flow of fluids. An intermittent estimate of blood loss may be determined based on the flow division ratio and the estimated blood component quantity, and a total estimate of blood loss updated based on the intermittent estimate. The representative fraction is projected or extended to be an estimated blood component quantity of the second portion of the fluids that bypasses the receptacle. The images may be continuously captured with a camera, and a fluid level of the fluids with a receptable may be continuously monitored. The total estimate of blood loss may be displayed in real-time on a display.

  • Patent number: 12209899
Abstract: Systems and methods for estimating a blood volume within a canister. The system may include means for detecting a fluid level of the fluid, such as a float sensor mechanism disposed within the canister. An imaging device captures an image of the fluid within the canister. A processor determines an estimated concentration of a blood component in the fluid based on the image. The processor determines a canister volume of the fluid based on the detected fluid level, and estimates the blood volume within the canister based on the estimated concentration of the blood component and the determined canister volume. The processor may trigger the imaging device to capture the image based on a change in the canister volume. An insert may be arranged within the canister and positioned adjacent to and offset from a transparent region of the canister.

  • Publication number: 20240054642
Abstract: A method of estimating blood loss of patient fluid within a fluid canister. A camera may automatically capture one or more images of the fluid canister based on a detected change in volume of patient fluid within the fluid canister exceeding a threshold. The image is analyzed determine the volume of the patient fluid, and a blood concentration of the patient fluid within the fluid canister. The blood loss is estimated based on the volume and the blood concentration, and displayed on a display. A pixel-based height of the patient fluid within the fluid canister may be calculated based on the surface of the patient fluid. The pixel-based height may be converted to the estimated fluid volume. The image may be a frame of a multi-frame video feed. The image(s) of the multi-frame video feed may be analyzed as the patient fluid is being drawn into the fluid canister.

  • Publication number: 20230419641
Abstract: A method for analyzing a surgical textile. A depth image and a color image of the surgical textile is acquired. One or more processors analyze a depth map of the depth image to apply one or more image classifiers. Blood information is extracted from pixels of the color image if the depth image satisfies the classifier(s). The classifier(s) may be a perimeter classifier, a planarity classifier, a normality classifier, a distance classifier, and/or a color classifier, among others. The distance classifier may include transforming pixel dimensions of a selected surface in the depth image into real dimensions based on distance values of the pixels. A graphical representation may be displayed to indicate the need to move the surgical textile closer or farther to satisfy the distance classifier. A prompt may be displayed to manipulate the surgical textile prior to the steps of acquiring the depth image and the color image.
