  • Patent number: 6237674
Abstract: A rotary regenerative air preheater has ring assemblies at the upper and lower ends which define the outer periphery and support the air preheater housing panels. The ring assemblies are spaced by spokes which are tied to the hub of the air preheater and vertically supported from the air preheater structural members. The rotor housing panels are attached around and between the spoked ring assemblies. The ring assemblies are formed form a series of uniform interchangeable segments and they support the peripheral bypass seals.

  • Patent number: 6068045
Abstract: The support grating system for the heat exchange baskets of a rotary regenerative air preheater is arranged to be able to make full use of the rotor volume for the heat absorbent material. Support gratings can be located inside of the volume of the rotor enclosed by the pin rack assembly and baskets can still be loaded. This is accomplished by installing certain of the support gratings or portions thereof after the baskets have been loaded into position in the basket layer inside of the pin rack assembly.

  • Patent number: 5727617
Abstract: An arrangement is provided in an air preheater for mounting and adjusting the sector plates and the axial seal plates in relation to the rotor using one adjustable mounting means and a stabilizer assembly. The stabilizer assembly includes a stabilizer beam which is fixedly mounted to the external preheater structure, a pair of stabilizer lugs having one end fixedly mounted to the stabilizer beam, a pair of stabilizer arms each having a first end rotatably mounted to the other end of the stabilizer lugs by a torsion bar which extends between the stabilizer lugs, and a pinned linkage mechanism which rotatably mounts the second end of each stabilizer arm to the sector plate or axial plate.

  • Patent number: 5649781
Abstract: A connecting linkage is provided between two structural members which includes a pinned connection to allow rotation of one structural member with respect to the other and which permits adjustment and alignment before locking the device in position without the need for drilling a precisely positioned hole for the pin in the structural member. An oversized hole is formed in one of the structural members and the pin is placed through the hole. A first support plate having pin-sized holes is then placed over each end of the pin followed by a second pair of support plates also having pin-sized holes. The assembly is then moved with respect to the first structural member as permitted by the oversized hole around the pin into a desired position. The second pair of support plates are then welded to the second structural member and the first pair of support plates are welded to the first structural member. If desired, the pin may be welded to the second pair of support plates.
