Patent number: 10586028Abstract: An apparatus, comprising a biometric fingerprint identification sensor, the biometric fingerprint identification sensor configured to receive an input from a user, the input corresponding to a-predetermined factor, the predetermined factor comprising a force applied by a finger of the user to the biometric fingerprint identification sensor. A connected computer processor determines a qualitative or quantitative threshold based on the predetermined factor, receive the input from the fingerprint identification sensor, calculate a value of a variable associated with the predetermined factor and the input, and trigger a feedback output when the value approaches the threshold within a margin. A connected haptic feedback is device configured to provide haptic feedback to the body of the user when the haptic feedback device receives the triggered feedback output from the computer processor indicating the value is within the margin of the predetermined threshold.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2014Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: Purdue Research FoundationInventors: Stephen John Elliott, Kevin James O'Connor, Colin Robert Patterson, Andrew Douglas Marshall, Matthew Wayne Sprau

Publication number: 20150335720Abstract: A fusion protein that is expressed in a recombinant protein body-like assembly (RPBLA) in host eukaryotic cells and organisms is disclosed. More particularly, a biologically active polypeptide fused to a protein sequence that mediates the induction of RPBLA formation is expressed and accumulated in host cells after transformation with an appropriate vector. The eukaryotic host cell does not produce protein bodies in the absence of the fusion protein. Methods for preparing and using the RPBLAs and the fusion protein are also disclosed, as are nucleic acid molecules that encode the fusion proteins.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 26, 2015Publication date: November 26, 2015Inventors: Peter Bernard HEIFETZ, Blanca LLOMPART ROYO, Pablo MARZÁBAL LUNA, Miriam BASTIDA VIRGILI, Maria Dolores LUDEVID MÚGICA, Margarita TORRENT QUETGLAS, Kevin James O'CONNER, Roser Pallisse BERGWERF, Maria Immaculada LLOP TOUS

Publication number: 20080285132Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to element deflectors and/or methods of making the same that are capable of reducing the number and/or amount of deposits (e.g., moisture and/or debris) that form on the lens(es) of viewing devices that reduce the viewing quality and/or experience. An air supply is configured to supply a flow of pressurized air. A matte box includes a plurality of holes and/or jets formed in or around a frame or hood thereof, with the plurality of holes or jets being disposed at one or more angles such that the flow of pressurized air is capable of flowing therethrough to reduce the number and/or amount of deposits from forming on the lens of the viewing device. A conduit connects the air supply to the holes or jets so that the flow of pressurized air flows from the air supply through the conduit to the holes or jets. The holes or jets may be capable or creating a desirable cyclonic or swirling effect for the air.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2008Publication date: November 20, 2008Inventor: Kevin James O'Kane
