  • Publication number: 20070125419
Abstract: A solar cell having at least one hole blocking layer and at least one electron blocking layer, and methods of fabricating such devices. Specifically, a hole blocking layer is disposed between a first electrode of the solar cell and the active layer. Further, an electron blocking layer is disposed between a second electrode and the active layer. The solar cell may be formed by fabricating an anode component and a cathode component and laminating the anode component and the cathode component together.

  • Publication number: 20050265512
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for reducing electrostatic deposition of charged particles on wetted surfaces that are exposed, periodically or substantially continuously to high velocity fluid flow within a coolant flow path in a nuclear reactor. The method includes depositing a first or base dielectric layer and a second or outer dielectric layer on a conductive surface that forms a portion of a high velocity flow path. The first dielectric layer material is selected to provide improved adhesion and insulation to the conductive surface and the second dielectric layer material is selected to provide suitable adhesion to the first dielectric layer and improved corrosion and/or mechanical resistance in the anticipated operating environment.

  • Publication number: 20050118331
Abstract: An in-situ method for repairing a thermal barrier coating deposited on a component that has suffered localized spallation including depositing a ceramic paste on a surface area of the component exposed by the localized spallation, the ceramic paste including a ceramic material in a binder material, the ceramic material including solid zirconia particles, the binder material including a silicone compound. The method also including heating the binder material to yield a repair coating that covers the surface area of the component, the silicone compound promoting the bonding of the solid zirconia particles.

  • Publication number: 20050081907
Abstract: An electro-active device, such as a photovoltaic cell or an OLED, is disclosed. The electro-active device comprises a substrate; a first electrode disposed on a surface of the substrate; a second electrode; at least one electro-active layer disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode, wherein the at least one active layer comprises one of a light absorbing layer and a light emitting layer; and a first metal-containing layer disposed between the first electrode and the electro-active layer; and a second metal-containing layer disposed between the least one active layer and one of the first electrode and the second electrode. The first metal-containing layer comprises at least one metal disposed in a plurality of domains. At least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is a transparent electrode. A metal-containing layer for an electro-active device and a method of making such a metal-containing layer are also disclosed.
