  • Patent number: 10841985
Abstract: A system and method for heat treating a tubular. In one embodiment, a system for heat treating a tubular includes a first coil and a second coil. The first coil is configured to circumferentially surround the tubular and induce, from without the tubular, current flow in a cylindrical portion of the tubular adjacent the first coil. The second coil is configured to be inserted into a bore of the tubular and induce, from within the tubular, in conjunction with the first coil, current flow in the cylindrical portion of the tubular.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 2018
Date of Patent: November 17, 2020
    Assignee: NATIONAL OILWELL VARCO, L.P.
Inventors: Kevin Joseph Wyble, Daniel Lyle Hannahs, Daryl Stevenson, Shawn Lee Cunningham

  • Patent number: 9869132
Abstract: A chromium-free, distributed hardfacing disposable on a surface of a wellsite component is disclosed. The hardfacing includes a metal filler (e.g., nickel) and particles distributed about the filler. The particles include pellets made of tungsten carbide and pieces made of angular molybdenum carbide. The pieces are smaller than the pellets for distribution in the filler between the pellets whereby a uniform distribution of particles is provided about the filler.
