    Abstract: A leveraged door lock combines the limiting function of a door chain with a leveraged bar so that the resident has a substantial mechanical advantage enabling him or her to force the door closed against one who attempts to gain forcible entry once the door is cracked open. The entire mechanism swings between a horizontally extended operative mode, down into a vertical depending mode alongside the door, which frees the door for normal use.
