  • Publication number: 20240086252
Abstract: The present technology relates to improving computing services in a distributed network of remote computing resources, such as edge nodes in an edge compute network. In an aspect, the technology relates to a method that includes aggregating historical request data for a plurality of requests, wherein the aggregated historical request data a time of the request, a location of a device from which the request originated, and/or a type of service being requested. The method also incudes training a machine learning model based on the aggregated historical request data; generating, from the trained machine learning model, a prediction for a type of service to be request; identifying an edge node, from a plurality of edge nodes, based on a physical location of the edge node; and based on predicted service, allocating computing resources for the computing service on the identified edge node.

  • Patent number: 8290847
Abstract: An apparatus, computer product, and a method for use in association with a joint venture are disclosed. The method including receiving information associated with a joint venture; determining an amount of a distribution based at least in part on an agreement; determining financial information for the joint venture based at least in part on the amount of the distribution; storing the financial information in a database; retrieving the financial information from the database using a processing system; providing a graphical user interface to allow a user to define a hurdle set; defining one or more hurdle sets in response to input to the graphical user interface; and determining, in the processing system, an amount of a distribution based at least in part on the financial information and one or more hurdle set.

  • Patent number: 5911574
Abstract: A quick-release system is provided for fixing the upper and lower jaws of a patient together. The system includes at least one elongated release bar that is supported by a plurality of first brackets secured to the teeth of one of the jaws. Each first bracket is sized for receipt on a single tooth and includes a base, a pair of opposing tie wings protruding from an outer surface of the base, and a rigid loop of bracket material connected to the base and defining an opening extending in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the base. The opening is sized for receipt of the release bar so that the release bar is supported loosely by the loops and can be removed from the loops by gripping an end of the release bar and pulling on it.

  • Patent number: 5842856
Abstract: A release system for treatment of a broken jaw comprises an upper and lower arch bar conformable to the curvature of the dental arches. The upper arch bar presents a series of interaligned loops which presents a channel for supporting a release bar extending therethrough. Upon wiring the arch bars to the respective dental arches, the lower arch bar is wired to the release bar so as to immobilize the dental arches and associated jaw. Upon imminent vomiting the user removes the release bar from its channel so as to disengage the release bar wiring from the associated upper arch bar. The loop channel supports the release bar so as to prevent kinking and bending of the release bar during wiring and wear. Various arch bars with releasable loops attached thereto are disclosed. Hanger elements for use with individual teeth are also disclosed which define courses for the release bar in lieu of the use of the loop channel on an arch bar. Caps cover the twisted ends of ligature wires to preclude oral abrasion.

  • Patent number: 5766005
Abstract: A cap assembly is provided for use on an oral ligature wire presenting ends that are twisted together. The cap assembly protects the oral tissue surrounding the twisted wire ends from abrasion, and includes a cap 22, 30, 36, 50, 60 sized for receipt over the twisted wire ends. The cap is formed of a material that is soft relative to the wire so that it defines a physical barrier between the twisted wire ends and the surrounding oral tissue. A collar is defined by or secured to the cap and is sized for receipt on the wire for retaining the cap on the wire while the wire ends are twisted and the cap is manipulated into covering relation on the wire ends.
