Patent number: 12243036Abstract: A media terminal includes two integrated currency devices, each device providing at least one feature/operation that is similar to or is the same as the other device. Two independent sessions to each device are made and presented to a transaction application of the terminal as a single aggregated session. When the transaction application issues a command through the single aggregated session, a decision is made that is transparent to the application as to which device should process the command on behalf of the application and the command is issued to the selected device over the corresponding independent session. Results or notifications provided by the selected device are aggregated and provided to the application over the single aggregated session. In an embodiment, the two integrated currency devices are different types of devices from one another.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: NCR Atleos CorporationInventors: Alexander Pearson Miller, Andrew Davis, Christopher James Dunlop, Kevin MacDonald McKenzie

Publication number: 20240294439Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods that transform high salinity brine into a non-toxic, CO2-absorbing cementitious aggregate composition and a lower salinity water component which can each be recycled to the desalination facility, further processed to produce fresh water, and/or added to a body of water and without harming the local flora and fauna. The present disclosure provides methods comprising steps of: (a) combining (i) a high salinity brine, (ii) CO2, and (iii) a pozzolan and/or a latently hydraulic material; and (b) permitting the combination obtained in step (a) to persist under conditions sufficient to transform the combination into a cementitious aggregate composition and a reduced salinity water component. In some case, an activator, as disclosed herein, is added to the combination. The present disclosure further a cementitious aggregate compositions and shaped cementitious compositions, each obtained by herein-disclosed methods.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2024Publication date: September 5, 2024Inventors: Sam Franklin Marshall, Kevin MacDonald

Publication number: 20200196540Abstract: A system for building a reconfigurable trellis includes at least one slidable pole connector configured to slide along a pole having either a circular or rectangular cross-section. The slidable pole connector includes a first portion configured to slide along a first pole and a second portion extending perpendicularly from the first portion and configured to receive an end of a second pole. The first portion may be in the form of a sleeve, which may be unitary or may include two detachably connected parts. A tightening mechanism may be provided to secure the first portion against the first pole and to prevent further sliding of the first portion when the connector is in a desired position. Several slidable pole connectors may be used with one another and with strand or rope connectors to secure a plurality of vertical poles, horizontal poles, and ropes, cables, strings, or wires to one another in a variety of adjustable configurations.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2020Publication date: June 25, 2020Inventor: Kevin MacDonald
