  • Patent number: 10218027
Abstract: A starter battery is provided comprising a plurality of pouch-type prismatic cells stacked to form an array and configured to output a voltage sufficient to start a vehicle engine. The starter battery further includes a housing configured to contain the array wherein the housing includes a tray and a lid attached with the tray such that the housing provides a compressive force sufficient to prevent cell delamination and to constrain expansion or swelling of the cells during operation.

    Assignee: A123 Systems, LLC
Inventors: Jerry Gohl, Timothy Hughes, Arfan Ahmad, Jason Davis, Robert Dickie, Kevin Martus, Michael Shenberger, David Allen
  • Patent number: 10026942
Abstract: A battery module is provided. The battery module includes a set of stacked battery cells, each stacked battery cell including at least one cell tab and a bus bar assembly including a bus bar, a bus bar support overmolded around a sense line electrically coupled to the battery cells, the bus bar support including cell tab openings having the plurality of cell tabs extending therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20160097354
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having an intake air duct with a compressor, a throttle valve, and a crankcase ventilation device with a ventilation duct connected to a crankcase with a crankcase pressure regulating valve, the ventilation duct divided into a first ventilation duct branch connected to the intake air duct upstream from the compressor, and a second ventilation duct branch connected to the intake air duct downstream from the throttle valve. A pressure difference between the pressure in the crankcase or in the ventilation duct upstream from the crankcase pressure regulating valve on the one hand and the pressure in the ventilation duct downstream from the crankcase pressure regulating valve on the other hand is measured by, for example, a sensor, and an evaluation unit evaluates for a correct or incorrect functioning of the crankcase ventilation device and a corresponding item of information can be outputted.
