Mounting assemblies include an engagement feature having a first engagement structure located on the body flange and a second engagement structure located on the upper portion of the disposer body. When the engagement feature is in the engaged position, the body flange and the disposer body are engaged, forming a combined disposer and body flange assembly. The combined disposer and body flange assembly can be lifted into alignment with the strainer flange assembly and rotated as a unit to engage the body flange with the mounting flange.

Abstract: Baffles for disposer systems, as well as disposer systems employing such baffles and methods of implementing and operating such baffles and disposer systems, are disclosed herein. In at least one example embodiment, a baffle includes a cylindrical rim and a plurality of pleats that are attached to, or integrally formed with, the cylindrical rim. A first face of the baffle includes a first structural characteristic and a second face includes a second structural characteristic. The first and second structural characteristics are of a same type but also are different, whereby due at least in part to the first and second structural characteristics being different from one another, the baffle is capable of being implemented within the disposer system in either of first and second orientations, respectively, so that the disposer system is configured to operate to achieve either of first and second functional objectives, respectively.

Abstract: A food waste disposer includes a food conveying section, a motor section and a grind and discharge section. The grind section includes a grind mechanism having a stationary grind ring and a rotatable shredder plate assembly that rotates within the stationary grind ring to grind food waste. The rotatable shredder plate assembly is rotated by a motor of the motor section. The rotatable shredder plate assembly includes a rotatable shredder plate having a plurality of stamped metal swivel lugs fastened thereon. Each lug includes a base and a face member at a radially outer end extending vertically upward from the base. The face member includes a grind face that bends radially inwardly with a rounded leading vertical outer edge. The base of each lug has a leading edge with a sharp lower edge.
