  • Patent number: 11179926
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to additive manufacturing of an object using both a digital light processing (DLP) projector and a focused energy source to irradiate a photopolymerizable material, and apparatuses and methods for the same. The DLP projector irradiates and cures an outer perimeter of the object, and the focused energy source irradiates and cures an inner region of the object. In a preferred embodiment, irradiation by both the DLP projector and the focused energy source occur from underneath a tank holding the photopolymerizable material and through a transparent window.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 23, 2021
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: Johnny Deleon, William Murphy, Stephanie Lynn Depalma, Brian Peterson, Travis Sands, Russell Dennison, Stephen Deak, Kevin Mcevoy

  • Publication number: 20140272164
Abstract: The present application provides for coaters, and methods of using coaters, configured to coat tubes, rods or like members. The coaters may include a coating reservoir configured to apply a coating to the exterior surface of such members. The coating reservoir may include at least one void, first and second ends with first and second apertures, respectively, in communication with the at least one void, at least one port in communication with the at least one void, and coating delivery material positioned within the at least one void. The first aperture, second aperture, and coating delivery material may define a coating passageway through the coating reservoir. An engagement portion of the coating delivery material may define the narrowest portion of the coating pathway and be effective in supporting and coating the exterior surface of a member as the member passes, or is passed, through the coating passageway.

  • Publication number: 20070267576
Abstract: A method is provided that includes heating a powder to a temperature that is below the melting point of the scintillator composition but is sufficiently high to form a coherent mass. The powder includes a scintillator composition. The coherent mass is polycrystalline and has a pulse height resolution that is less than 20 percent at 662 kilo electron volts; a light yield of more than 5000 photons per milli electron volt; or both a pulse height resolution that is less than 20 percent at 662 kilo electron volts and a light yield of more than 5000 photons per milli electron. A sintered body is provided also.

  • Publication number: 20070237668
Abstract: A method of making a cubic halide scintillator material includes pressing a powder mixture of cubic halide and at least one activator under conditions of pressure, temperature, residence time and particle size effective to provide a polycrystalline sintered cubic halide scintillator having a pulse height resolution of from about 7% to about 20%. The conditions include a temperature ranging from about ambient temperature up to about 90% of the melting point of the cubic halide, a pressure of from about 30,000 psi to about 200,000 psi, a pressing residence time of from about 5 minutes to about 120 minutes and an average cubic halide particle size of from about 60 micrometers to about 275 micrometers.

  • Publication number: 20060222762
Abstract: A method of forming a patterned optical transmission device on a substrate includes forming a liquid phase pattern on the substrate. The liquid phase pattern comprises a fluid precursor having a suspension or a solution of a dopant in a solvent. Catalyzing the liquid phase pattern to convert the liquid phase pattern into a hardened pattern, and processing the hardened pattern to form a patterned optical transmission device.
