Patent number: 9621697Abstract: A VoIP telephone provides basic VoIP capabilities, such as those defined by SIP, with an onboard communications engine that presents a user interface at a display. More complex communications capabilities are provided by interfacing the telephone with an information handling system and driving the user interface of the telephone with a UC application executing on the information handling system. For example, the telephone has an LCD that presents a number pad or basic telephone number list for interaction with the communications engine; however, UC application drives a user interface with greater processing power and storage available from the information handling system, such as an address book or communication actions not supported by the communications engine.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2010Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventor: Kevin Mundt

Patent number: 9251859Abstract: A drive vibration prevention system includes a fan and a drive. The drive includes a vibration detection device and a vibration notification pin. A management engine is coupled to the drive and the fan. The management engine is operable to determine whether the vibration notification pin is being asserted in response to the vibration detection device detecting a vibration that exceeds a predetermined threshold. In response to determining that the vibration notification pin is being asserted, the management engine retrieves vibration data from the drive. The management engine then modifies a fan speed of the fan using the vibration data. Drives may be grouped into drive groups that output a single vibration notification signal to the management engine, and in response to the assertion of a vibration notification pin in the drive group, the management engine retrieves vibration data from each of the drives in that drive group.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2012Date of Patent: February 2, 2016Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Kevin Mundt, Frank Widjaja Yu

Patent number: 9098254Abstract: An information handling system accepts a storage device in a bay that interfaces through a standardized connector having a first set of pins, such as a SATA connector. The standardized connector has a second set of pins inserted within the standardized footprint to support communication by devices other the storage device. For example, a SATA connect shares one or more of its standardized pins with a USB connector so that one common connector within an information handling system bay supports multiple types of devices.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2011Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: James Utz, Andrew T.
