Publication number: 20210067584Abstract: A system and method for offloading service cloud tasks to multifunction peripherals includes a service cloud that transmits an application to a multifunction peripheral. The multifunction peripheral receives the application into memory and executes the application. The application performs a management task associated with the multifunction peripheral similarly to how the service cloud would perform the management task. Once the management task has been performed, the application transmits synchronization data with the service cloud. Offloading the management task to the multifunctional peripheral substantially reduces the computational load on the service cloud.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 29, 2019Publication date: March 4, 2021Inventors: Kevin NGUYEN, Milong SABANDITH

Patent number: 10888920Abstract: A monitoring and control system is for a strand guide roll assembly of a continuous casting machine which includes a plurality of rolls spaced apart generally along a path of travel of a strand from an input end located adjacent to a mold to an output end. The system includes a plurality of sensors each coupled with a separate one of the rolls so as to be spaced apart generally along the travel path, each sensor senses magnitude of a load on the coupled roll. A logic circuit is coupled with each sensor so as to receive input from the sensors corresponding to load magnitude. The logic circuit is configured to determine from the sensor input a general position on the travel path at which the strand substantially solidifies, preferably by calculating a difference between loads on adjacent rolls and determining when the difference is less than a predetermined value.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2017Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: AKTIEBOLAGET SKFInventors: Kevin Martin, Hanh Nguyen

Patent number: 10785188Abstract: Disclosed is a domain filter capable of determining an n-gram distance between a seed domain and each of a plurality of candidate domains. The domain filter loads a seed domain n-gram for the seed domain and a candidate domain n-gram for each candidate domain in memory, compares the seed domain n-gram and the candidate domain n-gram to identify any identical grams, removes any identical grams from the seed domain n-gram, and determines how many grams are left in the seed domain n-gram, representing the n-gram distance between the seed domain and the candidate domain. The domain filter then compares n-gram distances thus determined with a predetermined threshold, eliminates any candidate domain having an n-gram distance from the seed domain that exceeds the predetermined threshold, and provides remaining candidate domains to a downstream computing facility such as a user interface or an analytical module operating in an enterprise computing environment.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2018Date of Patent: September 22, 2020Assignee: Proofpoint, Inc.Inventors: Harold Nguyen, Ali Mesdaq, Kevin Dedon, Michael Fox, Gaurav Dalal

Patent number: 10691549Abstract: A storage controller receives a command to delete a dataset stored in a first set of storage volumes controlled by the storage controller. In response to receiving the command, a determination is made as to whether an indicator has been enabled to protect the dataset against an accidental deletion. In response to determining that the indicator has been enabled, the dataset is copied from the first set of storage volumes to a second set of storage volumes controlled by the storage controller. In response to completion of the copying of the dataset from the first set of storage volumes to the second set of storage volumes, the command to delete the dataset stored in the first set of storage volumes is executed.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2018Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Michael J. Patent number: 10691700Abstract: A replicated storage system allocates tables to storage clusters to balance the usage of resources in the replicated storage system. The replicated storage system determines the query load of the stored tables and generates candidate table allocations based on the query loads. The candidate table allocations are generated based on table allocation criteria based on the popularity of the tables or whether the tables are related to other tables. The replicated storage system determines resource parameters for each candidate table allocation and generates a resource usage score for each candidate table allocation based on a utility function that is weighted based on priorities of the resources used by the replicated storage system. The replicated storage system selects a table allocation from the candidate table allocations based on the resource usage scores of the candidate table allocations and allocates table replicas to the storage clusters.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2016Date of Patent: June 23, 2020Assignee: Uber Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Ritesh Agrawal, Kevin Novak, Jai Ranganathan, Tristan Willy, David Nguyen
