Abstract: The present invention provides a method for determining if a caller is allowed to leave a message in a mailbox. A call request for a called phone is received from a caller at a message server. The message server determines if the called phone has subscribed to a message administration service. If so, the message server determines if the caller is allowed to leave a message in a mailbox. This can be accomplished by either determining if the caller has entered a valid personal identification number or determining if the name of the caller is in a list of pre-approved names. If the caller is allowed to leave a message in a mailbox, the message server allows the caller to leave a message in a mailbox in a mailbox associated with the called phone.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for utilizing a backup timing source in digital communication systems when GPS becomes nonfunctional. When a base station fails to receive an expected signal from a GPS satellite, a GPS failure timer is started. If the base station does not receive a signal from the GPS satellite prior to the expiration of the timer, the wireless communication system switches to a backup timing system, such as NTP (Network Time Protocol).

Abstract: An apparatus in one example has: a terminal operatively couple by at least one of a fundamental channel and a supplemental channel to a telecommunication system having packet data capability; the terminal having a packet data session that is established on a packet data path on the fundamental channel; a VoIP session request that is sent from the terminal to the telecommunication system; the VoIP request having a priority that is higher than a priority of the packet data session request if the supplemental channel is not available wherein use of the fundamental channel between the VoIP session and the packet data session is shared; and if the supplemental channel is available, the VoIP session established on the fundamental channel and the packet data session established on the supplemental channel.

Abstract: A method for providing a customized teleconference greeting. The method includes recording a vocalized greeting provided by a host, storing the recorded vocalized greeting, receiving calls from guest terminals operated by guest participants, sending audio greetings for the guest participants to the guest terminals including at least a portion of the recorded vocalized greeting. The guest terminals can then be bridged into a teleconference call session. The terminal operated by the teleconference host can also be bridged into the teleconference call session is so desired.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing location based vendor information to a wireless mobile terminal is provided. The method includes receiving subscriber provisioned response criteria from a subscriber, receiving a request for location based vendor information from a subscriber mobile terminal, determining the location of the subscriber mobile terminal, retrieving location based vendor information for the mobile terminal's location, and sending the location based vendor information in a response satisfying the subscriber provisioned response criteria to the subscriber mobile terminal.

Abstract: A method of forming a conference call between a call session party mobile terminal engaged in a call session and an invited party mobile terminal is provided. The method includes sending an SMS invitation message from the call session mobile terminal to the invited party mobile terminal inviting the invited party to join the call session, receiving an SMS reply message from the invited party mobile terminal accepting the invitation to join the call session, associating the invited party mobile terminal with the call session, and bridging the invited party mobile terminal into the call session. A system for performing this SMS based conference call feature is also provided.

Abstract: An apparatus in one example has: a home fixed wireless data access service having a coverage area and at least one mobile wireless data service having a coverage area; a mobile terminal associated with the home fixed wireless data access service; an active wireless data connection for a data application between the mobile terminal to a one of the home fixed wireless data access service and the mobile wireless data service; and an automatic hand off process for the active wireless data connection of the one of the home fixed wireless data access service and the mobile wireless service, when the mobile terminal moves into the other of the home fixed wireless high access service and the mobile wireless service to allow the data application to continue without interruption.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting a plurality of called party terminals in a bridged a call session with a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) calling party terminal. The method includes the VOIP terminal sending called party terminal identifiers identifying each called party terminal to a calling party Service Control Point (SCP), and creating a bridged call session at the SCP connecting the called party terminals and the calling party VOIP terminal. The apparatus includes a system for sending called party terminal identifiers identifying each called party terminal to a calling party Service Control Point (SCP), and creating a bridged call session at the SCP connecting the called party terminals and the calling party VOIP terminal.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a plurality of separate Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) call sessions for a single Directory Number (DN). The method includes associating a plurality of IP addresses with a single DN, communicating the association to a Switching Center responsible for routing calls between the DN and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), determining that an existing VOIP call session associated with the DN is in progress, and creating another separate simultaneous VOIP call session for the DN. A communications system includes a switching center receiving an association between a plurality of IP addresses and a single DN for providing a plurality of separate simultaneous VOIP call sessions for the DN.

Abstract: Embodiments of the method and system provide for network support for call record privacy in a telecommunication system. The method in an embodiment may have the steps of: checking for a subscription to the call record privacy feature by a subscriber; checking if the call record privacy feature is active for a call associated with the subscriber; and marking call detail records of the call as “private” when the call record privacy feature is active. The system implements the method.

Abstract: A wireless telephony network provides satellite radio program information and content, in addition to conventional wireless telephony services, to eligible mobile stations of the wireless telephony network. The wireless telephony network receives satellite radio programming from a satellite radio service network, establishes one or more bearer channels (e.g., conventional voice channels or higher-bandwidth data links) and sends the programming to the one or more mobile stations via the one or more bearer channels. The wireless telephony network monitors and obtains billing information associated with integrated service delivery and coordinates the billing information with a satellite radio service provider. A controlling provider may be selected to control billing for the integrated services such that the customer receives a single statement.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing network support for fax management via a mobile device are provided. More particularly, the exemplary embodiments described relate to a technique that allows a mobile subscriber to manage incoming faxes by choosing, for example, to read, store, delete, forward, or print the fax at the time the fax call is received. In addition, the system allows a mobile subscriber to manage faxes that have already been stored on a network fax management system from a mobile handset by, for example, reading, printing, deleting, or forwarding the received faxes.

Abstract: Embodiments of the system and method allow a mobile terminal to customize call forwarding requests. The method may have the steps of: sending, from a terminal, a call forwarding customizing request to the network that initiates forwarding of calls from one phone number to another phone number; verifying, by the network, authorized access for the terminal to the call forwarding functionality for the requested phone number; instructing, by the network, the terminal to enter appropriate data having defined parameters for the call forwarding customizing request; begin forwarding calls, by the network, from the one phone number to the another phone number as defined by the terminal; and continuing to forward calls until the call forwarding is canceled by the terminal or until the call forwarding is cancelled according to the defined parameters.

Abstract: Embodiments of the system, and method provide for network support for wireless e-mail using speech-to-text conversion. One embodiment of the method may have the steps of: entering a spoken message at the mobile terminal; sending the spoken message to the network; and converting, at the network, the spoken message to an e-mail message that is sendable to any e-mail address.

Abstract: Embodiments of the system, and method provide for identification of a number being dialed on an incoming call to a multi-line terminal. Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for providing network support for voice-activated mobile web browsing for audio data streams. More particularly, the presently described embodiments are directed to enhancing an existing wireless network to provide hands-free web browsing to retrieve audio data. This allows wireless customers to make verbal web requests, (e.g., not requiring the use of hands), thus making it possible to request web audio programs while engaging in other activities, such as safely driving their vehicles.
