  • Patent number: 5456011
Abstract: A cutting tool comprising two cutting members positioned side by side and each having a toothed cutting edge of substantially the same shape. The cutting member being mounted on respect eccentrics of a drive shaft coupled to a motor. The cutting member being guided by respective control links so that the cutting edge of each cutting member prescribes simultaneously in the plane of the toothed edge, simultaneous oscillatory movements in the direction of the toothed edge and in the direction of right-angles thereto. The corresponding movements of the respective cutting members being out of the phase, preferably by 180.degree. and the teeth of each cutting edge being adapted to each cut when moving individually in the direction of the toothed edge.

  • Patent number: 5440815
Abstract: A guide for a hand-held tool having a housing to support a rotary cutter with a peripheral cutting formation and a motor to rotate the cutter. The guide having a rigid guide member with a peripheral wall to be disposed about the periphery of the rotary cutter, and a bracket to mount the guide to the housing. The peripheral wall having a slot therein through which portion of the rotary cutter projects to engage a workpiece, the degree of projection of the cutter being variable by relative pivotal movement between the bracket and the guide member. The bracket being configured to support the housing at a location spaced laterally from the guide member to provide additional stability to the guide member during operation.

  • Patent number: 5046391
Abstract: A portable saw mill for cutting timber from rough logs. The saw mill having a frame comprises a pair of beams supported only at the respective ends thereof, each beam including a rail extending longitudinally of the beams, said rails being parallel and located in a common horizontal plane. A motor and saw assembly mounted on the rails for linear movement therealong and including a motor coupled to a circular saw blade to drive same, and the saw blade being adjustable between at least two positions in each of which the axis of rotation of the saw is at right angles to the direction of linear movement of the motor and saw assembly.

  • Patent number: 4850407
Abstract: A cutter to be mounted on a spindle of a rotary tool for use in shaping timber. The cutter comprising a rigid member to be mounted co-axially on the tool spindle to rotate therewith and having a plurality of spaced cutting teeth about the periphery of the member, each tooth having a cutting edge extending in a direction transverse to the plane of rotation of the member, and a cutting edge extending in a direction generally radial to the axis of rotation of the member. A depth control projection in advance of each tooth to control the depth of cut of both the transverse and radial cutting edges.
