Publication number: 20030042672Abstract: A system and methods are provided in which a certain level of the chance aspect of a game or other application is removed and a certain level of a skill aspect is added. This may be accomplished by using an indicator to establish a predetermined number of move numbers for one or more players in the game. For example, the indicator may be used to determine a first group of move numbers for a first player and a second group of move numbers for a second player. The players use the pre-established move numbers to advance according to the rules of the game. Depending on the particular embodiment, the move numbers within a group may be sequenced or non-sequenced. Move numbers may be replaced at each player's turn or when all or a subset of the move numbers of a group are used. Move numbers may be established by any type of indicator such as dice, dominos, or a random number generator. In some embodiments, move numbers may be traded in.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2002Publication date: March 6, 2003Inventors: Fergus A. Leen, Sam B. Lawrence, David G. Patent number: 6044137Abstract: A method of automatically routing a facsimile transmission from a calling party to a called party over the Internet. A facsimile transmission is detected from calling party's CPE device. A destination number for the called party's CPE device and a corresponding remote Internet gateway are determined. The facsimile transmission is routed to a local Internet gateway wherein it is converted to a form compatible with the protocol used by the Internet. It is then routed over the Internet to the remote gateway wherein it is converted to a form compatible with the protocol used by the telephone network. The facsimile transmission is then routed to the called party's CPE device.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignees: U S West, Inc., MediaOne Group, Inc.Inventor: Kevin R. Patent number: 5695452Abstract: An orthopaedic support includes a sheet of foam material that has been compression molded in specific areas. These areas have a thickness and density that is different from other areas of the support and serve to better fit the support to the body. The support may include compression molded grooves or cavities to accommodate straps, struts, gel-filled pads, inflatable bladders, pumps, and other accessories. The support may also include compression molded grooves that reduce bunching when the support is bent, and may include molded edges to minimize skin irritation during activity. The brace may also be a back brace or an ankle brace having compression molded components. A method of compression molding an orthopaedic support includes compression molding at least one sheet of resilient foam material in selected areas to reduce the thickness and increase the density of the material in those areas.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1994Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Inventors: Tracy E. Grim, Kevin R. O'Donnell, Alec D. Bobroff, Mark D. Holt, Joseph M. Iglesias, John M. Bourne, William K. Arnold

Patent number: 5590431Abstract: The invention comprises a novel stretcher frame clamp, which allows standard hospital-style traction components to be used in conjunction with ambulance cots or the like. In the preferred embodiment, the clamp comprises two clamp halves, which when joined together define an octagonal outer shaped clamping area. The octagonal outer shape of the clamping area is sized to adapt to octagonal tubing-based traction components. Each clamp half also has a recessed channel cut therein, which is of a shape and size so that when the clamp halves are joined together around a stretcher frame rail, the frame rail passes through the center of the frame clamp assembly and contacts the clamp assembly along the entire length of the frame rail section which passes therethrough. The clamp halves are held together to create the clamp assembly in a compressive fashion, so as to squeeze the stretcher frame rail as it passes through the clamp assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Inventor: Kevin R. O'Connell
