  • Patent number: 6615798
Abstract: An internal combustion engine 10 comprises a cylinder 12 including a combustion chamber 17 having at least two air input ports 31, 51 and a piston 18 movable in cylinder 12 so as to vary the volume of combustion chamber 17. An air supply system 20 for supplying combustion air to cylinder 12 comprises first and second air intake systems 30, 50, each including an air passage 33, 53 and a valve 40, 60 controlling air passage through their respective port 31, 51. Each valve is controlled such that second valve 60 is open longer than first valve 40. An air flow valve controller 72 responsive to engine speed and air pressure downstream of a throttle valve 24 moves a valve 81 in second passageway 53 to permit greater air flow through second air passage 53 at higher engine speed and at air pressure less than steady state air pressure for the engine speed.

  • Patent number: 6181962
Abstract: An electrically active substance is prepared by flowing a high frequency alternating electric current through an electrolytic material, such as distilled water with NaCl dissolved therein, so as to change a physical property of the material. The alternating current is caused to flow through the electrolytic substance for preferably 4 to 8 hours. The current flow is then removed and the resulting electrically activated substance is then applied to human or animal skin to provide cosmetic/medical benefits, such as the reduction of skin wrinkles, preferably within 4 days. The substance may also be orally ingested.

  • Patent number: 5925992
Abstract: A speed controller circuit for a radio controlled (R/C) model includes a preprogrammed controller, first and second pushbutton switches, and a row of at least four light emitting elements (e.g., LEDs). The speed controller circuit is adapted to be mounted on an R/C model and to be connected to a battery, a motor, and a receiver on the R/C model for purposes of coupling power from the battery to the motor according to speed and braking information received via the receiver. The preprogrammed controller (e.g., a peripheral interface controller or PIC) is adapted to control operation of the electronic circuit under program control according to a stored setting for each of a group of operating parameters. The first pushbutton switch enables a user to select a particular parameter from the group of operating parameters. The second pushbutton switch enables the user to select a value for the stored setting for the particular parameter selected.

  • Patent number: 5744920
Abstract: A method for reducing the amount of power dissipated in the internal resistance of a battery supplying current to a load through a circuit that switches the battery on and off at a known switching rate and duty ratio to result in ON periods during which the battery is coupled to the load and OFF periods during which the battery is not coupled to the load, includes the step of providing a bank of capacitors connected across the battery. The bank of capacitors has at least one capacitor, a combined equivalent series resistance less than the internal resistance of the battery, and a combined capacitance such that the product of the combined capacitance expressed in microfarads and the switching rate expressed in Hertz is at least 4.times.10.sup.6. The method proceeds by storing energy from the battery in the bank of capacitors during the OFF periods for contribution to the load during the ON periods.
