Abstract: A system for mounting a light emitting diode (LED) wave guide down light retrofit fixture. The system can include a mounting plate having a number of apertures symmetrically positioned around a center of the mounting plate. The system can also include at least one fastening device mechanically coupled to an upper surface of the mounting plate using at least a first aperture of the apertures, where the at least one fastening device mechanically couples to a base of an existing fixture. The system can further include a coupling device mechanically coupled to a lower surface of the mounting plate. The system can also include a trim assembly having a frame and a LED light source mechanically coupled to the frame. The frame can have a coupling feature disposed on a top surface of the frame, where the coupling feature mechanically couples to the coupling device.

  • Publication number: 20130294084
Abstract: The luminaire includes a light emitting diode (LED) module that includes a heat sink with an outer wall defining a top cavity and a bottom cavity and a mounting flange generally positioned along the bottom of the outer wall. A LED light source is positioned within the bottom cavity and in thermal communication with the heat sink. The bottom surface of the mounting flange includes one or more alignment features or keys extending out from the bottom surface. A trim having a corresponding alignment aperture is matingly engaged by positioning all or a portion of the alignment feature into the alignment aperture to ensure proper orientation of the trim with the LED module and to provide sufficient surface area for good thermal transfer between the heat sink and the trim.

  • Publication number: 20130041556
Abstract: An automotive vehicle includes an engine, a plurality of electrical load subsystems, and at least one controller. During an auto start of the engine, the at least one controller detects a starter disengage condition. In response to detecting the starter disengage condition, the at least one controller periodically determines a value of an operating parameter associated with the vehicle, causes a first subset of the electrical load subsystems to be enabled when the value of the operating parameter falls with a first predefined range of values, and causes a second subset of the electrical load subsystems to be enabled when the value of the operating parameter falls within a second predefined range of values.

  • Publication number: 20130018569
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine and at least one controller. The at least one controller periodically determines an estimated current to be demanded by vehicle electrical loads during an auto stop of the engine, compares the estimated current with a threshold current, and inhibits an auto stop of the engine if the estimated current is greater than the threshold current for a predetermined period of time.

  • Publication number: 20120330508
Abstract: An automotive vehicle may include an engine, an electric power steering system and at least one controller. The at least one controller may, during an auto stop event of the engine, reduce at a first rate an available electric power steering system current to a non-zero threshold value before fuel to the engine is shut off and reduce at a second rate different than the first rate the available electric power steering system current from the non-zero threshold value to 0 after fuel to the engine is shut off.

  • Patent number: 6930426
Abstract: A stator for a dynamoelectric machine improves the cooling of the stator winding without increasing the size of the stator winding or the entire stator. The stator is of a unique construction wherein the size, and more specifically the cross sectional area or volume of the individual conductors is greatly reduced, while the total number of conductors is increased. In addition, a multiple filar construction is employed to avoid the potential for high levels of inductance and resistance in the conductors and to minimize the interference between the cascaded stator end loops and the housing that surrounds the stator.

  • Patent number: 6680552
Abstract: An alternator includes an inner housing and an outer housing. A pair of o-rings positioned therebetween create a sealed flow chamber having a first flow channel, a second flow channel and an axial passageway. The first flow channel is a disk shaped cavity extending diametrically across the alternator. The second flow channel forms an annular jacket extending entirely around the alternator. The axial passageway directs coolant axially from the first flow channel into the second flow channel. An inlet positioned diametrically across from the axial passageway allows coolant to enter the first flow channel, such that coolant entering the inlet must flow diametrically across the alternator to reach the axial passageway. An outlet positioned diametrically across from the axial passageway allows coolant to exit the flow chamber, such that coolant entering the second flow channel must travel annularly around the alternator to reach the outlet.

  • Patent number: 5947612
Abstract: A rotating machine comprises a housing defining a generally cylindrical bearing pocket and defining an interior and exterior. The machine also includes a bearing retainer having a generally cylindrical sleeve portion retained in the bearing pocket and a bearing having an outer race and an inner race, the outer race affixed within the cylindrical sleeve portion. The machine further has a rotating member mounted on a shaft for rotation therewith, the shaft having a portion affixed within the inner race of the bearing. In one embodiment, the bearing retainer includes anti-rotation keying projections the bearing pocket includes complementary depressions for the keying projections. The keying projections cooperate with the complementary depressions to prevent rotation of the bearing retainer with respect to the bearing pocket. In another embodiment, a cap is affixed to the bearing retainer to substantially prevent contamination from reaching the bearing from the exterior.
