Abstract: An apparatus and method for psychoacoustic balancing of sound to accommodate for asymmetrical hearing loss which may be advantageously provided as a slim, hand holdable, in-line device for use in conjunction with electronic audio equipment comprising one or more of a balance control, a master volume control for easy adjustment of sound volume for safe listening levels in conjunction with a tone control to control and/or modify bass response to customize sound for user preference and intelligibility.

Abstract: An in-the-ear technology delivery, positioning and sound management system includes a body portion that provides support for a conformable fitting element to be positioned in the user's ear canal and is structured and arranged to anchor sound management technologies and medical instrumentalities at selected positions in the canal for the delivery and control of sound or for the performance of medical procedures. A sound tube is provided to deliver sound in close proximity to the ear drum and a method for selectively fitting the system to the wearer's personal comfort level is provided. An apparatus and a method for a fitting pressure to be automatically applied along the device or aided by a fitting element that facilitates placement and a secure fit in the ear canal are presented. A coating element manages, acoustically alters, or occludes sound properties and sound at selected depths within the ear canal.
