  • Publication number: 20150338454
Abstract: A test structure and method to detect open circuits due to electromigration or burn-out in test wires and inter-level vias. Electromigration occurs when current flows through circuit wires leading to a circuit interruption within the wire. The test structure is a passive test wire arranged in one of several configurations within the circuit of a computer chip. The dimensions and resistances of test wires can vary according to the test structure configuration. Each test wire is measured for an electrical discontinuity after the computer chip is powered-on. If a wiring interruption is detected, it is concluded that the chip had been powered-on before.

  • Publication number: 20150339341
Abstract: Techniques for Aligned Run-Length Encoding (ARLE) are described. ARLE is an encoding scheme that transforms sets of same-valued consecutive rows into one or more runs, while enforcing boundaries between the runs at set intervals (e.g. every predetermined number of rows). Consecutive rows that contain the same value, but which cross one or more interval boundaries, are encoded as multiple runs that are divided along those interval boundaries. According to one technique, a database server accelerates query processing by setting the interval size to the word size of the processor performing the predicate comparisons. According to another technique, a database server accelerates row lookup by maintaining an offset array that stores the run offsets into the ARLE data of the run that begins each interval.

  • Publication number: 20150338348
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and methods for label-free, chemical specific detection in flow for high throughput characterization of analytes in applications such as flow injection analysis, electrophoresis, and chromatography. A surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) flow detector capable of ultrasensitive optical detection on the millisecond time scale has been developed. The device employs hydrodynamic focusing to improve SERS detection in a flow channel where a sheath flow confines analyte molecules eluted from a capillary over a planar SERS-active substrate. Increased analyte interactions with the SERS substrate significantly improve detection sensitivity. Raman experiments at different sheath flow rates showed increased sensitivity compared with the modeling predictions, indicating increased adsorption. At low analyte concentrations, rapid analyte desorption is observed, enabling repeated and high-throughput SERS detection.

Abstract: An optical fiber coating composition that includes an acrylic copolymer. The acrylic copolymer is a block copolymer that includes two or more acrylic blocks. The two or more acrylic blocks differ in glass transition temperature (Tg). The acrylic copolymer may include an acrylic block with a Tg above 50° C. and an acrylic block with a Tg below 0° C. Representative monomers from which the repeat units of the acrylic blocks are derived include alkyl(meth)acrylates. In one embodiment, the acrylic copolymer includes an acrylic block with repeat units derived from methylmethacrylate and an acrylic block derived from butylacrylate. The acrylic copolymer lacks urethane groups, lacks urea groups, lacks radiation-curable groups, and is otherwise unreactive with other components in the coating composition. The acrylic copolymer features high solubility in common acrylate-based radiation-curable coating compositions and can be provided at high concentrations in acrylate-based coating compositions.
