  • Patent number: 8365490
Abstract: An improved purlin clip has an arm and a leg defining a channel to receive the lower flange of a ceiling purlin. A pin is integrally formed with the lower leg of the clip and extends downwardly. The pin is adapted to penetrate a ceiling membrane. A cap is frictionally fit onto the pin to retain the membrane adjacent the purlin, and to support the membrane, with the insulation blown in between the membrane and the ceiling deck. The pin includes teeth or barbs for retentively engaging the cap.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 2010
Date of Patent: February 5, 2013

  • Publication number: 20080104905
Abstract: An insulated drop ceiling is provided for a metal building having spaced apart metal purlins with conduit or other structure extending across the purlins. Plastic support members are clipped to the purlins, and have an upper channel to accommodate the conduit, and a lower channel to support ceiling panels from the purlins and below the conduit.

  • Patent number: 7107732
Abstract: An insulated ceiling is provided for a metal building, an includes a plurality of spaced apart metal purlins with upper and lower flanges, a metal roof attached to the upper flanges of the purlins, insulated panels attached to the bottom flanges of the purlins so as to define a space between the roof and the panels, and insulation in the space. The panels are mechanically attached to the purlins with a plurality of clips and support members such that penetrating fasteners are unnecessary.

  • Patent number: 6330779
Abstract: A method of forming an insulated ceiling includes attaching an insulated panel to the lower flange of the purlins to form an insulatable space between the panel, the purlins, and the exterior skin of a building. The space is then filled with insulation material. An insulation delivery system can be utilized for the filling process, especially when loose-fill insulation is used. The delivery system includes a blower connected to a source of blowable insulating material, and a special manifold connected to the blower and adapted to deliver the material into the space. The manifold has a manifold plate that is slidingly insertable in the space. The manifold plate includes a peripheral seal and at least one air hole therethrough so that air can escape the space while the insulation is being blown in. The manifold allows the space to be filled with insulating material to a desired density or R-value.
