  • Patent number: 8479178
Abstract: A batch compiler is employed to enable compilation of code provided at runtime. A managed application receives code during execution and invokes the compiler to transform the code to enable it to execute within the context of the receiving application. Among other things, employment of a batch compiler preserves investments made to such compilers while also opening up new scenarios in application scripting and/or hosting that are otherwise unavailable.

  • Publication number: 20120118452
Abstract: The invention comprises a combination golf club head cover and a golf club head cover pocket configured to hold, transport and/or secure an object, such as a watch, wallet, key, music device, and/or personal item. Optionally, the golf club head cover is configured with an integrated music device or a replaceably attachable music device. For example, a golf club cover and/or a novelty golf club system is configured with one or more music projection elements, such as a power source, receiver, power transmittal line, music source receiver, integrated music source, connector for a replaceably attached music source, music transmittal line, user controller, amplifier, and/or speaker. The system allows a golfer to safely transport and enjoy a music device while playing a round of golf and/or to enjoy the same music source while in an indoor area and/or a refreshment area where a bulky golf bag is not readily transported.

  • Patent number: 7191674
Abstract: A stepper mechanical drive system includes a carriage, a support for the carriage that permits the carriage to move bidirectionally along a travel direction, and a follower structure on the carriage, The follower structure has two ramp structures that each extends longitudinally along the travel direction of the carriage and includes a plurality of sawtooth ramp faces. An actuator structure is not on the carriage and is stationary relative to the travel direction of the carriage. The actuator structure has a pair of actuators, and each actuator includes an actuator arm having an actuator element thereon, wherein the actuator arm is movable so that the actuator element may be controllably contacted to at least one of the ramp structures, and a controllable actuator drive operable to move the actuator arm. Each actuator drive may also include a disengageable latch that disengagably retains the actuator arm in a selected position.

  • Patent number: 6836201
Abstract: A mechanical actuator includes an annular electromagnet and a ferromagnetic plunger disposed within a bore of the electromagnet and slidable therein. A first permanent magnet is positioned outside of the bore and in facing relation to a first end face of the plunger, and a second permanent magnet is positioned outside of the bore and in facing relation to the second end face of the plunger. The plunger is slidable in the bore between a first position with the first end face adjacent to the first permanent magnet and a second position with the second end face adjacent to the second permanent magnet. Activation of the electromagnet with the current flowing in a first direction drives the plunger toward the first permanent magnet, where it is retained. Activation of the electromagnet with the current flowing in a second (opposite) direction drives the plunger away from the first permanent magnet and toward the second permanent magnet, where it is retained.

  • Patent number: 6614967
Abstract: An optical fiber and an optical component, such as a collimating lens, are positioned along an optical axis. An alignment end of the optical fiber is first positioned so that the optical fiber axis is coincident with the optical axis, and visible light passing through the optical fiber is focused upon an imaging light detector, without the optical component present on the optical axis. The optical component is inserted onto the optical axis and coarse positioned using visible light transmitted through the optical fiber and through the optical component to be incident upon a light energy detector. The optical component is thereafter fine positioned using infrared light transmitted through the optical fiber and through the optical component to be incident upon the imaging light detector. The optical fiber and the optical component are thereafter fixed in position.

  • Patent number: 6519861
Abstract: A workpiece (22) having a periphery is centered using a centering apparatus (20) having a workpiece spindle (24, 28) operable to rotate the workpiece (22) about a rotational axis (26), and a centering head (29). The centering head (29) includes a mount (30) movable in a movement direction lying in a plane (40) perpendicular to the rotational axis (26), and generally along a radial line (38) extending outwardly from the rotational axis (26). A swivel head (32) is pivotably supported on the mount (30) and is pivotable about a pivot axis (46) parallel to the rotational axis (26). The swivel head (32) has a pair of bearings (66) spaced apart along a direction lying generally perpendicular to the movement direction, with the bearing axis of each bearing (46) parallel to the rotational axis (26). A distance measuring device (34) is operable to measure the distance between the periphery of the workpiece (22) and a measurement location on the mount (30).

  • Patent number: 5675406
Abstract: A portable lens measuring device (10) comprises a plurality of optical fibers (23) and a lamp (18) for providing light to a common end. The portable lens measuring device (10) includes a sensor (32) for detecting light from the common end through the second arm, the light sensor (32) generating a signal responsive to the amount of light detected, and a lens assembly (25), the lens assembly being connected to the common end and having a fixed focal point. The portable lens measuring device (10) includes a controller (12) for controlling the lens assembly (25), for regulating the lamp and for receiving the signal generated by the detector. The portable lens measuring device (10) also includes a sensor motor (14) for moving the lens assembly (25) across a first and second surfaces of the lens to provide a value of the center thickness of the lens.
