  • Patent number: 7991244
Abstract: A variable skew correction system comprises a de-skew application executable to transform scanned image data of a document exhibiting a variable skew condition to an output model representing a de-skewed image of the document by transferring pixel data for each of a plurality of raster lines of the scanned image data to the output model, wherein a variable spacing between at least two adjacent raster lines of the scanned image data is modified in the output model to correct non-linear distortion of the scanned image data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 30, 2007
Date of Patent: August 2, 2011
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
    Inventors: Kevin Youngers, Maurizio Pilu
  • Patent number: 7944592
Abstract: Embodiments of a method performed by an image capture device are provided. The method includes performing a calibration operation on a photosensor array of the image capture device using a background surface with a substantially uniform grey color and performing a scan operation to capture a scanned image from a medium using the background surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 2006
Date of Patent: May 17, 2011
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Kevin Youngers, Ted A. Smith
  • Patent number: 7722504
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for creating a fitness training program based on performing neuromuscular and muscular performance tests on an individual, analyzing the results of the neuromuscular and muscular performance tests, and creating the fitness training program based on the analysis of the neuromuscular and muscular performance test results. The equipment used to perform the neuromuscular and muscular performance tests may be equipment designed for rehabilitation physical therapy used for recovery from injuries and surgical procedures that permits general neuromuscular and muscular performance testing and testing of the difference in muscle performance between a right side and a left side of the body of the individual. The individual is tested to create a fitness training program to increase neuromuscular and muscular performance, not for purposes of injury and/or surgery rehabilitation. The individual tested may be a healthy individual.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 19, 2007

  • Publication number: 20080174839
Abstract: A full color digital representation of an image is generated. For each location of an image, a number of color components of the image are optically scanned, and a grayscale component of the image is optically scanned. An additional color component of the image is generated at each location from the color components optically scanned and from the grayscale component optically scanned. The color components optically scanned and the additional color component generated together describe the image at each location.

  • Patent number: 7251062
Abstract: End-of-travel focus shift in an optical image scanner is provided. One embodiment is an optical image scanner comprising a platen, a stop member at a first end-of-travel position, and an optical head. The optical head comprises a ramped surface such that when the optical head engages the stop member the distance between the optical head and the platen is adjusted.

  • Publication number: 20050030594
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention is directed to a method for verifying a scan mode selection utilized for a scanned image. The method comprises comparing the scanned image to scan samples stored in memory, determining a scan state from a scan sample that most closely corresponds to the scanned image, determining whether the scan mode selection is consistent with the determined scan state, and providing an indication that the scan mode selection is not consistent with the determined scan state.
