  • Patent number: 11079358
Abstract: Methods and systems, including computer-implemented methods, computer program products, and computer systems for wooden pole integrity assessment. One computer-implemented method includes emitting, by one or more acoustic sources mounted onto a wooden pole, one or more sound waves through the wooden pole. Further, the method includes measuring, by one or more acoustic receivers mounted on the wooden pole, a respective amplitude and time of arrival of at least a portion of each of the one or more sound waves. Additionally, the method includes calculating, using the respective amplitude, the respective time of arrival, and a predetermined function, the real-time integrity level of the wooden pole. The method also includes in response to determining that the real-time integrity level of the wooden pole is less than a threshold level, outputting an alert indicating that the integrity level of the wooden pole is less than the threshold level.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 25, 2019
Date of Patent: August 3, 2021
    Assignee: Saudi Arabian Oil Company
    Inventor: Khaled A. Al-Buraik

  • Patent number: 9719328
Abstract: A downhole tool system includes a downhole tool string configured to couple to a downhole conveyance. The downhole conveyance extends into a wellbore, from a terranean surface, through at least a portion of a subterranean zone. The subterranean zone includes a geologic formation. The downhole tool system also includes a heating device coupled with the downhole tool string. The heating device is configured to transfer heat to the geologic formation in the wellbore at a specified temperature sufficient to adjust a quality of the geologic formation associated with a fluid absorption capacity of the geologic formation.

  • Patent number: 9004813
Abstract: A containment apparatus can be used to contain fluids leaking through a tubular wall of the pipe from an interior of the pipe to an environment surrounding the pipe. The containment apparatus can include a fluid container that can be positioned on an exterior surface of the pipe. The containment apparatus includes a seal for sealingly engaging the diameter of the pipe. In embodiments, the seal can be inflated with a pressure media to form a tighter seal between the containment apparatus and the pipe. For subsea pipeline applications, the containment apparatus can include a riser extending to the surface of the sea, from which the leaking fluid can be collected. In embodiments, the containment apparatus can include a valve that can selectively permit leaking fluid to flow toward a collection receptacle.
