  • Patent number: 10605888
Abstract: A device, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for determining an optimal orientation for a directional antenna in a wireless communications system. Instructions are provided to position a directional antenna in each of a plurality of potential orientations. At each of the potential orientations, a serving node signal power level and a non-serving node signal power level is ascertained, and compared to predefined thresholds. An optimal orientation is selected based on the performed comparisons, among other things. In essence, the optimal orientation is determined based on received signal characteristics ascertained at each potential orientation.

  • Patent number: 10359497
Abstract: A device, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for determining an optimal orientation for a directional antenna in a wireless communications system. Instructions are provided to position a directional antenna in each of a plurality of potential orientations. At each of the potential orientations, a serving node signal power level is ascertained, and an amount for reducing the transmit power of an uplink signal is determined for mitigating interference to non-serving nodes. An optimal orientation is determined based on the ascertained serving node signal power levels and the determined power reduction amounts for reducing uplink signal interference. In essence, the optimal orientation is determined based on received signal characteristics ascertained at each potential orientation.

  • Patent number: 10129768
Abstract: A potential interference is determined for specific geographic locations of a wireless network based on signal measurements performed by wireless devices at said specific geographic locations. Obtaining power measurements of reference signals sensed at a wireless device at a specific location, and determining a potential interference caused at the specific location based on the power measurements. The power measurements comprise measurements of a reference signal power (RSRP) performed by a wireless device at the specific location. The wireless device may perform multiple measurements of signal power at various locations, and submit to the network measurements recorded at each location. The measurements may be performed periodically or triggered by the network.

  • Patent number: 9907028
Abstract: A device, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for mitigating uplink signal interference to non-serving nodes in a wireless communications system. An uplink signal is transmitted from a subject node to a serving node. The subject node receives a non-serving node downlink signal from a non-serving node. Based on one or more ascertained characteristics of the downlink signal received from the non-serving node, the subject node determines that the uplink signal transmitted therefrom is causing interference to the non-serving node. The subject node reduces a transmit power level of the uplink signal in response to determining that the uplink signal is causing interference with the non-serving node. In some instances, an optimal orientation for positioning an antenna coupled to the subject node can be determined by employing aspects of the foregoing.

  • Patent number: 9060028
Abstract: A method of accessing a communication system and a communication device for performing the same are disclosed. The method includes transmitting, by the communication device to a node of the communication system through a communication link between the communication device and the node, a registration request to register with the communication system, transmitting, by the communication device to the node, a request to disconnect the communication link, when receiving from the communication system a registration response in response to the registration request before receiving an authentication request from the communication system.

  • Patent number: 9043873
Abstract: A method of accessing a communication system and a communication device for performing the same are disclosed. The method includes transmitting, by a communication device to a node of a communication system through a communication link between the communication device and the node, a request to negotiate basic capabilities for communicating with the node, receiving, by the communication device from the node, a response to the request to negotiate basic capabilities, and, transmitting, by the communication device to the node, a request to disconnect the communication link, when the response to the request to negotiate basic capabilities indicates that the node does not support authentication.

  • Patent number: 5465297
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a telephone line seizure circuit which may find particular application in home security systems which feature an automatic dialer which automatically sends an alarm detection signal out on a telephone line when an alarm condition is detected. The telephone line seizure unit of the present invention operates so that when the automatic alarm dialer is on-hook, the telephone line seizure units are transparent to the telephone system and the telephones can then be used normally. When the automatic alarm dialer goes off-hook, then the telephone line seizure unit operates to disconnect any telephone in use connected thereto, which will thereby allow the automatic alarm dialer to go back on-hook briefly, and after about 30 or so to go off-hook, to thereby utilize the telephone line to send out the alarm detection signal.

  • Patent number: 5422947
Abstract: A telephone in-use indicator having a diode bridge which is connected to a telephone line. The diode bridge ensures than an input signal from the telephone line is at a constant polarity. An inverter is connected to the diode bridge and receives a signal from the telephone line through the diode bridge. The inverter operates to invert the signal received from the telephone line. An oscillator receives a signal output from the inverter. A light emitting diode is connected to an output of the oscillator and is intermittently driven by the oscillator. A power source powers the inverter, oscillator and light emitting diode. When one telephone extension along the telephone line is changed from an "on-hook" to an "off-hook" condition, a drop in voltage is detected. As a result, the light emitting diode is intermittently driven by the oscillator to thereby provide an indication that a telephone line is in use.
