  • Publication number: 20240252036
Abstract: Described are various embodiments of a vision-based testing device for digitally implementing a vision-based test for a user using both their left and right eye simultaneously. In one embodiment, the device comprises: left and right display portions comprising respective pixel arrays; corresponding light field shaping element (LFSE) arrays of light field shaping elements respectively disposed at a distance from said display portions so to at least partially govern respective left and right light fields projected on the user's left and right eye, respectively; and a digital data processor operable on pixel data for designated visual digital test content, to simultaneously render said designated visual digital test content in accordance with the vision-based test to be simultaneously perceived by the left and right eye, respectively, to be at a common virtual position so to invoke a natural binocular eye vergence response corresponding to said common virtual position.

  • Publication number: 20240164698
Abstract: Described are various embodiments of an oculomotor assessment system and method of using same. One embodiment relates to system comprising a head-mountable device comprising a set of light sources mountable on the user's head to present. in operation, a visual stimulus at a corresponding plurality of physical locations at respective relative distances to the user's eyes. The system further comprises an eye tracking system configured to monitor an oculomotor response of the user to the visual stimulus, and a digital data processor operable to execute digital instructions for performing the oculomotor assessment by activating the set of light sources in a sequence to present the visual stimulus in the corresponding physical locations at the respective relative distances, recording the oculomotor response, and outputting an assessment result indicator as a result of the oculomotor response.

  • Publication number: 20220342478
Abstract: Described are various embodiments of a pupil tracking system and method, and digital display device and digital image rendering system and method using same. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method for improving a perceptive experience of light field content projected via a light field display within a light field viewing zone comprises sequentially acquiring a user feature location, and comparing a velocity computed therefrom with a designated threshold velocity. Upon the velocity corresponding with a transition from a relatively dynamic to a relatively static state, a rendering geometry of the light field content is adjusted to project the light field content within an adjusted light field viewing zone in accordance with a newly acquired user feature location.

  • Publication number: 20210271319
Abstract: Described are various embodiments of a pupil tracking system and method, and digital display device and digital image rendering system and method using same. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method for dynamically adjusting rendering of a digital image using a light field display comprises: sequentially acquiring a user pupil location; digitally computing a velocity thereof over time; digitally comparing the velocity with a designated threshold pupil velocity; digitally rendering the digital image via the light field display in accordance with a maintained light field viewing zone geometry digitally defined in respect of a previously acquired user pupil location unless the velocity is above the designated threshold pupil velocity.
