  • Patent number: 4288573
Abstract: A compatible blend of polymers is disclosed and consists essentially of 100 parts by weight of a low density ethylene polymer and about 0.2 to 3 parts by weight of either poly(ethylene adipate) or poly(trimethylene adipate). The polymer blends have a lower sealing temperature than the low density ethylene polymer contained therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 1980
Date of Patent: September 8, 1981
    Assignee: Gulf Oil Corporation
Inventors: Khalid A. Karim, James H. Rea
  • Patent number: 4276111
Abstract: A polymer composition is disclosed and consists essentially of 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer and about 1 to 15 parts by weight of an ester formed from a rosin acid and ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or glycerine. The polymer compositions have a lower heat sealing temperature than the ethylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer contained therein.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 1980
Date of Patent: June 30, 1981
    Assignee: Gulf Oil Corporation
Inventors: Khalid A. Karim, James H. Rea
  • Patent number: 4273893
Abstract: Compatible ternary polymer blends are disclosed which consist essentially of a low density ethylene polymer, an ethylene-alkyl acrylate copolymer, and an amorphous isobutylene polymer. The compositions seal well at temperatures below those required for heat sealing ethylene polymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 1980
Date of Patent: June 16, 1981
    Assignee: Gulf Oil Corporation
Inventors: Khalid A. Karim, James H. Rea
  • Patent number: 4225550
Abstract: Fine particles of acetylene end-capped polyimide oligomers are copression-molded at ambient temperature. The preformed moldings are cured without melting the resin by heating to an elevated temperature which is lower than the oligomer's melting point.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 24, 1978
Date of Patent: September 30, 1980
    Assignee: Gulf Oil Corporation
Inventors: Khalid A. Karim, James H. Rea
