  • Patent number: 9419442
Abstract: A power distribution system. The power distribution system may comprise a plurality of renewable energy sources and plurality of converters to increase fault tolerance in the event of a component failure and to minimize output power degradation. Each converter may be comprised of a plurality of input ports, wherein each input port receives controlled amount of energy from the plurality of renewable energy sources. Each input port may also be disconnected in the event of component or device failure. Each of the converters is preferably configured to have additional power capacity to offset any reduced output capacity by a faulty converter, and preferably, the performance of each converter is monitored by the system to maintain its performance. The power distribution system may be monitored by a third party to maintain the energy output levels and to facilitate the power distribution system's restoration to normal functioning.

  • Publication number: 20110172851
Abstract: A system is described to provide access to an automotive vehicle's input and output devices and making those available for an external system or device, while preserving original functionality of the input and output devices in the vehicle. The system includes a set of circuits coupled to the vehicle's input and output devices and a controller subsystem coupled to the these set of circuits. The system also includes an interface circuit coupled to the controller subsystem as well as to the external system or device being added by the user.

  • Patent number: 6700802
Abstract: A system is described for controlling the flow of electrical power between two sources. The system includes a circuit coupled between a first source and a second source and a controller subsystem coupled to the circuit. The circuit is capable of transitioning, in a continuous manner, between a first direction wherein electrical power flows from the first source to the second source and a second direction wherein electrical power flows from the second source to the first source. The control subsystem generates control signals to selectively activate switching elements of the circuit to control the direction and the amount of electrical power flowing through the circuit between the first and second sources.

  • Patent number: 6700214
Abstract: A power generation system is described for supplying electrical power to a load from at least one of a generator and a battery. The power generation system includes a power bus coupled to the generator and a bi-directional conversion unit coupled between the power bus and the battery. The bi-directional conversion unit is capable of transitioning between a first direction wherein electrical power flows from the power bus to the battery and a second direction wherein electrical power flows from the battery to the power bus.
