Abstract: A topical semisolid (gel) formulation of nanoparticles of silver comprising about 0.001% w/w to about 1% w/w of silver by weight of the total mass of the formulation with its particle size in the range of 0.1 to 150 nanometer; about 0.5% w/w to about 25% w/w of at least one gel forming agent by weight of the total mass of the formulation; about 25% w/w to 60% w/w of at least of one co-solvent by weight of the total mass of the formulation; about 1% w/w to 50% w/w of purified water by weight of the total mass of the formulation and other optional adjuvants wherein the nanoparticle size of the silver enhances the therapeutic action of the formulation.
