Patent number: 11822734Abstract: A display keyboard video mouse (KVM) switch detects cables connected to ports of the display and compares the cable types against a configuration table to select a configuration user interface for presentation at the display retrieved from non-transitory memory of the display by a processing resource of the KVM switch. As an end user adjusts the cables connected to the display KVM switch, logic executing on the display adjusts the presentation of the configuration user interface to guide connections with plural information handling systems based upon the cable types and to confirm correct association of keyboard and mouse inputs through the KVM switch with each information handling system.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 2022Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Khang Chian Yong, Vui Khen Thien, Michael Hock Meng Peh

Patent number: 11435875Abstract: A display, such as a computer monitor, presents a user interface having static and dynamic icons that define inputs made at a joystick input device. For example, a first static icon associates with a first input button to always command a menu presentation, and a second static icon associates with a second input button to always command an exit from the user interface. Plural dynamic icons associate with third and fourth input buttons that scroll the dynamic icons to populate a central input button of the joystick input device. A press at the central input button selects a function associated with the dynamic icon presented at the central input button.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2020Date of Patent: September 6, 2022Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventor: Khang Chian Yong

Patent number: 11287083Abstract: An information handling system display swivel arm rotates about two axes with selectable amounts of rotation. The swivel arm couples to an anchor and a display support with a tool-less swivel coupling device having a member inserted into a housing and rotationally coupled in place by first and second pins that engage first and second slots of the member. The first slot is disposed around the circumference of the member to support substantially 360 degrees of rotation of the member in the housing. The second slot is disposed only part of the way around the circumference of the member to support partial rotation, such as 180 degrees. Removal of both pins from the member allows withdrawal of the member from the housing to disassemble the swivel arm.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2020Date of Patent: March 29, 2022Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Kok Lian Lim, Yu Weng Alvin Sitoh, Khang Chian Yong

Patent number: 11011133Abstract: Plural information handling system interfaces with a display through plural display ports result in selection at the display of a display source that presents display information and a display source selection user interface window. An end user seeking to charge a portable information handling system at a display port, such as a USB Type C port, can plug the portable information handling system into the display without disrupting presentation of display information by another information handling system that is interfaced with the display.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2018Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Khang Chian Yong, Vui Khen Thien, Mandy Christina Phelps, Theodore B. Pasquale, Benedict Tiong Chee Tay

Patent number: 9838617Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium for performing an intelligent display device detection operation. With the intelligent display device detection operation even if a user has not turned on a second information handling system, the display device automatically switch a video input from a first information handling system to the second information handling system when the second information handling system is coupled to the display device. When the user powers on the second information handling system, a video stream provided by the second information handling system is immediately presented on the display device. In certain embodiments, the intelligent display device detection operation comprises one or more of a signal detection operation which detects which input port is transmitting a signal and a cable detection operation which detects which input port is coupled to a cable.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2016Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Jin Shiong Koh, Khang Chian Yong
