  • Publication number: 20100284925
Abstract: Methods and compositions for activating PLTP gene expression include administering an effective amount of a limonoid.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 17, 2007
    Publication date: November 11, 2010
    Inventor: Khew-Voon Chin
  • Patent number: 7214771
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a novel BTB-POZ domain zinc finger protein, which is named herein RI?-associated zinc finger (RIAZ). The nucleic acid and corresponding protein products have been identified, as have numerous diagnostic and therapeutic utilities predicated on the observed role that the factors play as mediators of the progression of several cancers, and the host response to multiple stress. We have cloned and sequenced the full length cDNA of the gene expressing this protein. We demonstrate that in vitro synthesized RIAZ protein interacts with RI?. We hypothesize that the interaction of RI? with RIAZ may regulate apoptosis, cell growth and drug resistance. The factors of the invention are also believed to play a role in host chemosensitivity to cancer drugs, and the invention extends to the modulation of the factors to treat conditions reflective of abnormal levels thereof.

  • Publication number: 20060252787
Abstract: A method for controlling cholesterol metabolism in a host, a screening assay for agents that can control cholesterol metabolism, and the agents that may be identified are practiced and determined in relation to the expression of PLTP in HepG2 cells and a clone from these cells, designated HepG2/PLTPpLuc. Particular agents that are covered comprise camptothecin, topotecan, derivatives thereof, metabolic byproducts thereof and small molecule mimics thereof.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 17, 2006
    Publication date: November 9, 2006
