  • Publication number: 20070241930
Abstract: An automatic meter-reading interface for a fluid sensing meter is described. In one aspect, an Automatic Meter-Reading enabling shroud (AES) encapsulates the interface. The AES is for positioning below a register and above a rotating disc magnet in a fluid meter such that a pre-existing operational relationship between the rotating disc magnet and the register is maintained. The AES includes at least one magnetic switch coupled to a microcontroller to calculate a total volume of fluid that has passed through the fluid meter over a configurable period. This calculation is based on the at least one magnetic switch periodically sensing North and South magnetic fields from the rotating disc magnet; each sensed field indicating a predetermined per-unit volume of fluid passing through the fluid meter. The AES generates a pulse indicating the total volume of fluid for interrogation by an AMR device.

  • Publication number: 20070176843
Abstract: Provided is a wireless RF communications system for use in electronic devices requiring a communication capability. The system, which may be positioned between any two surfaces or panels of the electronic device includes a printed circuit board (“PCB”), a radio module incorporated into the PCB, and at least one antenna embedded in the PCB. A microstrip transmission line interconnects the antenna and radio module. In at least one embodiment, the PCB is flexible. Reduced cost and enhanced performance are recognized through a synergistic manufacturing process wherein components are etched or otherwise placed in sequence or concurrently onto a single PCB, and interconnect cables are eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20050128147
Abstract: A flexible antenna that overcomes these and other problems has a high dielectric substrate with a first surface and a second surface. A reflective material is deposited on the first surface of the high dielectric material. A reflective material s deposited on the second surface of the high dielectric material and antenna arrays are etched on the second surface. Variable radiation patterns are obtained by flexing the antenna.

  • Patent number: 5718468
Abstract: A modular return spring cage assembly for door lock handles, consists of a door lock mounting chassis member having two opposed faces, at least one face having two opposed arcuate channels forming a circular groove in the face. The groove has two split diametrically opposed spring bases each formed by two substantially equal spring stops projecting from radially outer and radially inner walls of the groove. Two compression springs are slidably disposed within the channels and have length such that a slight compression is required to fit the springs between the split spring bases. An arrangement for transmitting torsional motion between a door handle and the springs, and for limiting rotary motion of the handle is included. A provision for positively retaining the springs and the torsional motion transmission arrangement on the mounting chassis member completes the modular assembly.

  • Patent number: 5628216
Abstract: A locking device is disclosed, comprising a locking mechanism having a locked position and an unlocked position, a hollow plunger member having a central axis, the hollow plunger member being engaged with the locking mechanism to move the locking mechanism alternatively into the locked and unlocked positions upon reciprocating linear motion of the hollow plunger member in first and second directions along its central axis, and a motor having a shaft disposed coaxial with the central axis of the hollow plunger member is disclosed. In one embodiment, the locking device further comprises a spring having first and second ends, the first end being fixed to the motor shaft, and a pin fixed to the hollow plunger member for engaging the second end of the spring such that when the motor shaft rotates in a third direction the hollow plunger member moves in the first direction and when the motor shaft rotates in a fourth direction the hollow plunger member moves in the second direction.

  • Patent number: 4989888
Abstract: A combination child restraint-stroller is disclosed which can be converted from a passive restraint car seat to a stroller, while the apparatus is held by an user with a child seated therein. The apparatus includes a body having a child support surface and an internal cavity therebelow with a downwardly facing opening. A front and rear strut are pivotably attached to the body having a pair of front and rear wheels rotatably attached thereto. A locking mechanism is provided to alternatively lock the front and rear struts in either the retracted passive restraint position within the body internal cavity, or in the extended stroller position.

  • Patent number: 4150792
Abstract: A rail fastener includes an anchor member fixed atop a crosstie and removably retaining a spring clip having a pair of spaced apart arms insertable within the anchor member. The spring clip, generally "C" shaped, has one of its arms deflected transversely and downwardly by a tapered retainer element on said anchor member whereby a positive downward force is applied by the other arm against a rail base flange. An abutment provided on the anchor member restricts vertical displacement of the other arm and rail base therebeneath.
