  • Publication number: 20090160978
Abstract: A data processing apparatus having a small hardware size and performing tens correction includes a seed memory, a gain memory, and a decoder. The seed memory stores a plurality of encoded gain values forming an A*B seed matrix; the gain memory stores a plurality of decoded gain values forming an M*N grid matrix. The decoder is connected between the seed memory and the gain memory and performs vertical recursive rear polynomial (RNP) decoding before performing horizontal RNP decoding after a second time. Accordingly, the decoder may decode the M*N grid matrix from the A*B seed matrix by performing the row directional RNP decoding and the column directional RNP decoding by turns.

  • Patent number: 7386050
Abstract: The present invention relates to a half-pel motion estimation method. The calculation object half-pel, which is in the block of the previous or next reference frame, is not estimated additionally for each block of the current frame divided into blocks of a predetermined size. The present invention suggests an algorithm that can perform half-pel search only with a SAD value used in integer-pel search and a random variable for correcting errors. Since the present invention does not have to generate half-pel for motion estimation, the calculation amount is amazingly reduced and the calculation time is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060109905
Abstract: A fast block mode determining method for motion estimation, and an apparatus thereof. A cost of motion estimation for an input image frame is predicted by Kalman filtering, and one block mode is selected from a plurality of block modes. A cost for the motion estimation of the input image frame is calculated. The predicted cost and the calculated cost are compared with each other, and the block mode for performing the motion estimation is determined. In an H.264 moving picture encoding device, the operation load is reduced and time wasted for calculation is shortened, because it is not necessary to perform the motion estimation for all the block modes.
